Originally rated on 1/14/09. I ordered two of these online the first bottle wasnt good at all It had a nice apperance with a thick murky brown body, similar to apple cider with a few floaters and plenty of carbonation. the aroma remined me of V8 tomato juice with vinegar, the flavor was similar. It was rather sour and not many hops to speak of. Overall i didnt like this at all, but i will try the second bottle in a few months and re-review. 4-9-09 tried second bottle, have to say i liked a little better than the first. Mostly apple in aroma and flavor and the vinegar was more muted this go around, and it was more enjoyable. raise it from a 2.7 to a 3.5

This came in a cute little pop top. The smell is yeasty and sweet, plummy. It pours a nice purply hazy amber. The taste is very much belgo yeast vibes all around with some tang and sour tart to it, giving it a plum skin kinda tang, the alcohol is very present. Not sure why this is classified as an IPA though, more of a saison or a Belgian ale than anything else. Either way, it’s pretty good if a bit too watery and loose to be great. Good for kicking off a doubleheader of new Bobs Burger episodes cuddled on the couch with your boo boo.

Shared 33 cl bottle. Pours a hazy pale amber with a cream-colored head. Aroma of malt, earth, fruit, caramel, funk. Taste is fruit, malt, funk, spice, yeast. Moderately sour finish. Seems closer to a saison. Good.

Aroma: reminds me of biere de garde; sweet with some oaky white wine; Appearance: hazy amber pour with fluffy white head that lingers; Taste: follows nose with some spiciness and some odd flavors coming through; a little sour; Palate: light bodied with long, spicy finish; Overall: not my favorite. Would not get again.

750mL bottle, drunk 9/16/16.
Not sure if this was rebrewed, though I think it was, based on a Zymatore version being released in 2014 (seems very unlikely they would have aged it for 10 years) and bottles being available recently on the shelf around that time (when I picked this up).
Anyways, it still shows signs of life, pouring a beige head atop an auburn-golden body, with good clarity and lots of sediment left behind. Retention is moderate to moderately-low.
Smells very fruity, very bready and rather oxidized, in the nose. Hops have faded for the most part but still suggest light vegetal/green notes, with a touch of pine and citrus. Fruity yeast notes, with strong minerality, provide the bulk of the nose as bready malts, light to moderate caramel and bland oxidation steadily increase as it warms/breathes. No alcohol or flaw.
Similar in the mouth with still some remnants of bitterness, a good minerality and still an enjoyable fruitiness. Hint of citrus but it’s quickly overtaken by the caramel, bread and stale, cardboard-like oxidation. Good attenuation, with a strong maltiness to the texture and moderate amounts of tight carbonation. I guess this was not one to age....

Smells tart a bit smokey a bit wood. Hazy brown with nice lasting layer of white head. Smooth soft tart let’s a dry brown leaf grow underneath slight sweet. Balanced. Feels like a soft blanket on your tongue.

Interesting but restrained sour aroma with hints of citrus and pine in a red gold pour. Taste profile is similarly restrained with tart to the fore - in a subtle but complex way. Definitely refreshing.

Pours a golden orange with fluffy head. Aromas of citrus peel and some piney notes. Flavors of light malt and citrus hops. A touch of funk.

This poured an orange color with a white head. Aroma of dark fruits and oxidation. Flavor similar, dry, Saison like, old.

4oz on tap at Libertys, for $4. Hazy red orange color. Ring of off-white khaki head. Decent but loose ropes of lace. Moderate sour tart taste, light to moderate bitter, light sweet. Nice taste to this. Bartender tells me it’s a biere de garde, but it’s much less spicy and soft than any biere de garde I’ve ever had. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Wood, dark fruit, light spice, oak, mild lemon citric in the aroma. Pretty nice, tasty, balanced, enjoyable stuff to sip on.
