Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of malt, mild hop and grain. Fresh taste of smooth grainy malt and some hop bitters. One of the better east-asian lager.

Foamy, slightly dirty looking head, but don’t let that put you off. Pleasant hot weather beer with quite a light palate which is moderately rich and malty, yet provides a refreshingly bitter flavour that disappears, to be quickly followed up by a smooth yet short, bitter after taste with some residual sweetness thrown in for good measure. Slight aroma of straw too. The best Vietnamese offering in my opinion.

Can. Hanoi airport. Tastes clean. Not overly corny. Really, not bad at all.

Can sampled thanks to jmgreenuk. Enjoyed directly from its container by the baggage belts at Schiphol airport, so no comments on its appearance other than that the can can a nice picture of a tiger on and that the beer (unsurprisingly) appears to have won a couple of international gold medals. Given that it’s an award winning beer, the aroma is a huge letdown with light notes of cardboard, rice and cereal. Flavour is also a little lacking, with a light sweetness and bitterness. The body is very light and it’s about as close to water as you can get. I’m failing to see how this one won those medals.. -.-

Bottle at Le Pub, Hanoi. The aroma is light cardboard malt, light hop. The flavour is light bitter with a light malt, light hop bitter palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. No fruit at all. These Vietnamese lagers all taste the same.

Lunkie (1936) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - MAR 28, 2016

Final flavor: moderate sweet light bitter (metalized); average duration. Palate: light medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, metallic finish. Above Brazilian commercial average. 6s usd0.5

Can (thanks friends for sharing). Pale straw color. Simply and dirty aroma. Tastes: like water, a little sweet malt, only ice drink.
