Bottle from TheJester. Thanks a bunch!! Brewed 2009. Wow this beer is good! It pours dark brown with a medium long lasting creamy tan head. The aroma has loads of ripe dark fruit, black berries, sweet toasted caramel, light tobacco, light chocolate and port. The flavour is overripe fruit, light chocolate, light roast, light licorice, caramel and dark mollasses. Long dark fruity finish. Wow this is a fantastic brew indeed!

This is an excellent dubbel, one of the best I have had. It is indistinguisable from a real Belgian, and this is due to the yeast, which is very Belgian in flavor and aroma. Yeast and fruit aroma. Flavor is full with malt, and some dried fruit. Thick palate, a little sweet.

341 ml bottle from a trade with glouglouburp. brassin one. pours a deep slightly hazy burgundy with a short lived tan head, but a constant ring of tan and some soapy splotches. aromas of dark fruits, plums and raisons, some yeast. big and full bodied, lots of dark fruit and hint of chocolate. yeasty character and true to a good dubble. big but soft, no alcohol to speak of. im very impressed by this. sip this one or you might get into trouble.

J’aime bien!

2009 bottle: A huge surprise! A reddish brown ale with a thick dissipating dark brown head. In aroma, smooth caramel malt with dark fruits, light molasses. In mouth, a dense sweet maple caramel malt with loads of sweet coffee, vanilla, vinous character. After almost 4 years, this one is superb!

Appearance: Pours a deep mahogany with a average sized off-white head with tinges of tan. Looks like burnished copper. For some reason, as i’m drinking it, i can’t stop admiring the color. I’m really digging it. Smell: A strong aroma of burnt sugar, caramel, dried fruit and a whiff of cognac to top things off. Delicious. Taste: Throws a little bit of a curve ball at first. Dominant cloves and cinnamon at first but then segues into a more relaxed taste. Getting some sugar and faint traces of oak. I have trouble pinning down the fruit, figs maybe? It has a slight leathery finish but the overall taste is of spices which is quite pleasant. Mouthfeel: Average carbonation with a certain dryness to it that leaves me a bit ambiguous. Surprisingly not too heavy but still a full-bodied brew. Reviewed on: 09-11-2009

Sampled from 355 ml bottle and shared by MatSciGuy. Pours a semi-hazy reddish amber brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates to an off-white ring. Aroma of dark caramel, raisins, flowery hops, some banana esters, yeast and dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium to full bodied, fruity, with flavors of roasted caramel malt, raisins, a hint of brown sugar and yeast. Finish has a mild yeast and brown sugar aftertaste.

Glouglouburp again on the nice Canadian beer!! Nice brown pour wtih a light tan head. Aroma is full of caramel, fruit, yeast and some raisins. Flavor is sweet and fruity with smoe nice background hops. Some graham cracker notes and a hint of tartness rounded this out well. Very good.
