Appearance: Pours a deep mahogany with a average sized off-white head with tinges of tan. Looks like burnished copper. For some reason, as i’m drinking it, i can’t stop admiring the color. I’m really digging it.
Smell: A strong aroma of burnt sugar, caramel, dried fruit and a whiff of cognac to top things off. Delicious.
Taste: Throws a little bit of a curve ball at first. Dominant cloves and cinnamon at first but then segues into a more relaxed taste. Getting some sugar and faint traces of oak. I have trouble pinning down the fruit, figs maybe? It has a slight leathery finish but the overall taste is of spices which is quite pleasant.
Mouthfeel: Average carbonation with a certain dryness to it that leaves me a bit ambiguous. Surprisingly not too heavy but still a full-bodied brew.

2009 bottle: A huge surprise! A reddish brown ale with a thick dissipating dark brown head. In aroma, smooth caramel malt with dark fruits, light molasses. Bottle from TheJester. Thanks a bunch!! Brewed 2009. Wow this beer is good! It pours dark brown with a medium long lasting creamy tan head. The aroma has loads of ripe dark fruit, black berries, sweet toasted caramel, light tobacco, light chocolate and port. The flavour is overripe fruit, light chocolate, light roast, light licorice, caramel and dark mollasses. Long dark fruity finish. Wow this is a fantastic brew indeed! 341ml bottle, thanks CaptainCougar. Clear nut-brown body with a small beige head that wholly dissipates. Aroma is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, some raisin, vinous. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, raisin, light vinous/alcohol. Sticky medium-full body, low carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of deep sweet malt with traces of candi sugar and nice dry raisins with a subtle notes of anise. Taste is more complex then I had expected with loads of maderized sugar and dry raisins with some great notes of candi sugar ad deep caramelized malt. Body is quite full with limited filtration and great carbonation with no signs of alcohol. Muddy brown in colour with a large lingering beige head, excellent lacing. The aroma is quite malty, lots of caramel, dark fruits, christmas cake and some yeast. The flavour has some light alcohol, moderate spice, lots of burnt christmas cake, caramel sweetness. Bitter warming mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. 340ml bottle. It pours very dark with a large tan foam head. The aroma is hard for me to pin down caramel with some spice? The taste is light sweet. medium body, with an almost sticky texture. Pours a murky brown color with a thick, light brown head. The aroma has caramel, earthy/roasty malt, it’s also fruity and yeast. The flavor has a solid roasted malt with caramel, molasses yeast and mild fruityness. The body is light to medium with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation.
