To continue the lore, I heard that it won a homebrew competition for the Seattle Weekly. I suppose one could look that up. Dark mahogany in the glass, spongy tan head. Mocha nose, trappist yeast? Nutmeg? Familiar with a chocolate kick. Creamy body, more gritty mocha edge that surrounds a dark earthy foundation of goodness. Loved this beer. Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2011
Draft, Belgianfest. Coppery brown pour, thick beige head. Nice malty aroma, kind of toasty and sweet. Very malty tasting stuff, nice flavors of toast, caramel, dates, nuttiness, a bit of spicey, bubblegummy yeast flavors before finishing with a slight bitterness. A very nice example of the style. bhensonb (15743) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 16, 2011
Draft at Brouwer’s in Seattle. Bar lore is that this was planned for a wedding, but somehow there’s a lot left for the NW. Pours dark brown with creamy near white head. Warm malty aroma. Near full body. Flavor is malty, but not to excess. Has moderately dark fruit. There’s touches of kandi and yeast/spice. Finishes just somewhat bitter. A really nice brew.
