Really nice nose of peanut butter, roasted malts, light chocolate, and coffee notes too. Really smells like peanut butter and chocolate/coffee. Pours dark brown more or less black with a thin ring around the edges. More peanut butter in the flavor with some light sweet chocolate, black malts, roast. Lingering light roast/peanut butter flavors. Really solid and interesting. Some warming alcohol as you progress through the beer, but it drinks very well for 11%. Big Al Peanut Butter Stout
I have waited for this beer for almost one year. Light subtle peanut in the aroma, dark malts and some chocolate comes through. Dark malts and a creamy and chalk like peanut butter flavor comes out. I was surprised and realized this was a one of a kind type brew. It was tasty and worth the wait. I would rank this as one of the top brews for the festival.
8/4/09 on draft at the brewpub. Aroma is all peanut butter with a bit of roast character. Appearance is very dark brown with a moderate maintained tan head. Flavor is chocolatey, but more bittersweet than milk chocolate, and with a heavy peanut butter background. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a very low carb texture and clean finish. Overall, very cool, an experiment that should be repeated.
