Tap. Black pour, big creamy light colored head. Aroma is malty andhas some notes of espresso, molasses and chocolate. Nitro… Pitch black ale with a small, ultra creamy, khaki head. Terrific retention. Restrained chocolate nose with whispers of butterscotch and vanilla. The flavor offers plenty of typical, nitro-induced, dry stout characteristics. Chocolaty with hints of darkly roasted coffee and muted charcoal or ash. Light to medium-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel with low carbonation. Lengthy, acrid, bone-dry finish.

On nitro at the Florida Brewers Guild BeerFest 2009. Pours deep dark garnet with copper edges with nice creamy nitro enhanced mocha head. The moderate aroma has roasty malts, a bit of burnt malts, a touch of caramel sweetness and molasses. The taste is roasty, modest burnt malts and touch of grainy malts. It then becomes somewhat burnt by midway to go along with the associated roasted malts astringency. For a regular stout, I thought this one was pretty darn good when I had it on draft at Big Bear. Pours stout brown with a tan head. Nose is cocoa, coffee, roast, dark chocolate, and a tiny amount of bitterness. Flavor is similar with dark fruitiness in the background and lingering cocoa/ chocolate character in the finish. Nice stout.
