BIG BEAR is tops in its game! BIG BEAR is very good at being a 40! It has a way awesome label that helps the drinker get into a positive mindset, and lets others know exactly what type of night/day the holder of the bottle is trying to have. For 7.5% booze this is crisp and infinitely downable! Malt liquors of similar gravity succumb to oily textures and disgusting corn-ethanol flavors. How could anyone rate this low if they’ve had steel reserve, evil eye, or O.E.800 I don’t know. Big Bear is relatively well-carbonated, and not unlike King Cobra in thickness, which makes it GOOD! Now that everyone’s adrenals are terminally fucked from drinking too much FOUR LOKO, its time we get back to basics, and BIG BEAR holds basic the fuck down.
From old tasting notes. Bright honey gold color. Bubbly white head. Sweet soda pop malt aroma. Sharp citrus malt flavor and obvious alcohol overtones. Little hop flavor. Not very good. b3shine (9138) - Indiana, USA - DEC 25, 2012
40 oz bottle to pint. Merry Christmas! Looks like carbonated piss. Smells cheap, doughy, and skunky. Tastes like it smells with a below average mouthfeel. This one’s gonna be a chore to finish. jmagnus87 (3302) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - MAR 24, 2012
40oz bottle...drank from the bottle. Looks to be a clear pale yellow. Aroma of corn, skunk and boiled greens. Taste is the same. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and no finish. Overall, it’s crap. But what do you expect for about a buck per 40oz? burg326 (5604) - Florida, USA - FEB 22, 2012
40 ounce bottle, pours an amber color, aromas of cheap booze, and tastes like it too. reebtogi (6378) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 10, 2012
1.18L bottle pours a pale golden color with a small white head that left no lacing. Aroma is cheap grains and hops. Taste is malty sweet with light hop bitterness and alcohol. Just another cheap malt liquor that is not good and not recommended.

The awesome label sums it up; a gigantic, angry, rabid, red-eyed grizzly about to rip your face off... thus following the tradition of malt liquors being named after things that can kill you (i.e. Magnum, Hurricane, Colt 45, King Cobra, and the list goes on). This is one of my favorite 40’s. It’s easy to drink and pretty good for what it is. Pairs nicely with a Jack’s frozen pizza.
UPDATE: If you can find this anywhere, let me know. It seems to have disappeared. NJBeerman013 (1054) - Hamilton Twp., New Jersey, USA - AUG 6, 2011
40 oz. I have had worse. Golden yellow in color with a soapy looking pure white head. This one starts out slightly astringent, and finishes sweet with a canned corn flavor. crossovert (13869) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 15, 2011
40 oz bottle, was about 1.60.
It is a clear yellow gold with a fizzy bright white head.
The smell is corn syrup mixed with vodka and rootbeer.
The flavor is pretty mellow. It has a slight corn flavor, some tanginess, and metal.
It is cheap as hell, and it shows in the taste, I bought it more or less as a joke. And I only had 6 ounces of it, that was enough.

If you’re buying a 40, you pretty much know the drill. And this is about as standard a 40 as you can get. Not overly offensive on the taste. Goes down fairly well. Certainly could be worse (I’m looking at you Steel Reserve)
