Our Kölsch is a refreshingly pale German style Ale. It is cold fermented and cold conditioned to achieve a beautiful balance between biscuit malt flavors and floral hop notes. It is light bodied and finishes somewhat dry to enhance it's easy drinking nature. Please enjoy our interpretation of this beer of Zümmer! Editor's Note: Renamed Angry Angel Kolsch by the brewer.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium amber, almost gold in color with a very small white fizzy head that disappeared in a matter of seconds and had some really poor lacing. The aroma was very mild of a light bread malts, a light floral hop and had a slight scent of an earthy yeast with a hint of citrus (lemon). The taste at first was slightly bitter and mildly acidic with a nice malt characteristic, it then became a bit bitterer and had a nice dose of wheat and just a very light touch of citrus at the end with the flavor lasting only a short time on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was creamy and a little dry in texture with a light to medium body and a nice soft carbonation. Overall a mild/flavorful tasting brew that is very easy to drink...

Bottle. Pours a clear gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is slightly sweet and fruity with some minimal floral hops. The flavor is much the same, a little on the sweet side for my tastes in the style, and fairly lacking in hops. A little heavy in body as well, light fizzy carbonation. Not a big fan of this one as far as the style goes, but it would be a decent beer if they framed it as just a Blonde Ale.

This is kind of a fail for me... It’s really lacking some of the nice malty toasty character and that distinct lager/ale character that’s so good about a kolsch. It really just tastes like a weird lager. Oh well, can’t all be exceptional.

Pours up a fizzy yellow color with a fine white head. Medium lacing on the glass as it dissipated. Aroma is yeasty with a slight fruitiness to it. The taste is malty and slightly fruity mid palate followed nicely by mild hops. Light bodied, crisp with traditional lushness of a Kolsch. Easily drinkable, refreshing.

12 oz bottle dated July 2011 (production date). -- (from 2011 notes) pours a hazy yellow straw color with a small, fragile white head. Some sediment was left on the bottom of the bottle; a portion of this was added mid-tasting. The aroma is faint but pleasant, featuring pale malt with a hint of floral hops. ... yes, there is more than a trace of hops here, leaving a reported IBU of 20. The flavor largely follows the aroma. However, this is very mildly bitter although it smells a bit sweet. Also, a lightly baked biscuit flavor and a hint of citrus come out in the taste. M - light bodied; semi-dry finish O - as expected for style, this is not very flavorful or aromatic. This Kolsch is well-balanced and easily recommended if you like this style. It is refreshing and thirst quenching.

First sip was just okay, but it grew on me the more I drank. Solid local beer........

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Soft musk and light grain on the nose. Medium bodied, grain with a light crackery wheat note. Soft musk and a touch of grain into the finish. Easy drinking with crackers and grain.

Old rating. Pretty standard kolsch. A little thin and grainy, nothing outstanding but not horrible either.

Picked this up in Asheville, NC on my way to ASEH in DC in 2015. Decent Kolsch, though not as sweet and floral as I typically like. The aroma is a bit too understated, I think with a slightly stale aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours yellow, hazy, small head. Aroma: faint aroma of corn, aluminium, earthy notes, grain. Taste: butterscotch, grain, corn, straw.

Crisp golden and very light amber coloured body with a soapy white head, about a centimetre tall. Aroma of malt, grass, grain and a hint of perfume - not much going on in the nose. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour at first with hints of grass and hay and a little twang of medicine and pungent bitterness and only a touch of hops to try to balance out the malt and astringent bitterness. Aftertaste shows nothing new and no depth with just the pungent alcohol and astringency coming through and nothing in reserve. Overall, a decent beer at best, but too much astringency, too many harsh flavours and not enough body or depth to make this good, even for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Cary, North Carolina on 02-August-2014 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-August-2014.
