Served on draft at Thirsty Monk South. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate and berries. The taste is roasted malts, nutty notes, chocolate, herbal hops and mild berries in the finish. Medium bodied. Nice beer. Lubiere (14240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 24, 2013
A dark brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light alcohol and berry notes. In mouth, powdery chocolate malt with light berries, a bit of off character, grassy, OK. j12601 (13297) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - DEC 11, 2015
Bottle shared with my wife. Pours a clear dark brown with a faint tanned white head at the edges. Big stone fruit and yeast on the nose, a soft bit of cocoa and some papery oxidization. Medium-bodied, sweet and fruity, berries over warming sweet alcohol, roast and cocoa. Raspberry and chocolate syrup through warm booze, fruity yeast. Bottle... O’sS&BS-I-T-YVBThrowdown... Pours black with a creamy, light brown head. Good retention. The nose is dominated by charcoal, black coffee and cocoa with an unfortunate touch of acetaldehyde. Medium to full-bodied with soft carbonation. The flavor is tart, tangy and fruity with a dab of chocolate thrown in the mash for good measure. Finishes tart and lightly bitter. Kudos to dchmela for bringing this bottle to the Throwdown! kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - MAR 8, 2009

Bottle to snifter (shared by jmborggren). Looks good; a fairly opaque dark cola with thin beige lacing. Smells of dark malt and mild raspberry with some black pepper notes. Tastes like it smells, only better, and a heavier raspberry presence without the pepper. Solid on the palate (it doesn’t drink like it’s 8%, although it’s a little thin). Enjoyable. drowland (9184) - Georgia, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Bomber (courtesy emacgee) into a tulip glass. The pour is black with red on the edges with a 1-finger brown head that fades to half then sticks a bit. The aroma is a unique mish-mash of chocolate-covered raspberries and Belgian yeast. The flavor is fresh sour raspberries followed by creamy chocolate with a definitive lingering roasted malt finish - not exactly coffee - but definitely dark roasted malts.
