Points for a good name. I was wary after trying their "kriek" a few weeks ago, but I liked this off the bad. Light, bright yellow pour, slightly hazy with a tenacious finger of white foamy head and great lacing. Bright citrusy notes and a zippy yeast profile. Hint of pepper. Notes of a light summer wheat ale. A touch funky, but buried a bit. A bit of a vegetal spice note that almost intruded but didn’t bother me. Surprisingly bitter, in a good way; not quite as dry as expected. Refreshing as could be on an early spring 86-degree day. Props, too, for the low abv.
12 ounce bottle from Peabody’s, Boone. Pours a hazy yellow color with a large foamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of pineapple, mango, citrus, pale malts, yeast and the mildest earthiness. Great aroma of barnyard funk, lemon zest, and citrussy hop. Pours opaque and bronze with a very big head. Taste is light with lemon peel, barnyard funk, and malty citrus. Very easy to drink and light on taste while being complex. Nice saison. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - APR 19, 2013

Bottle. Pours a light hazy orange with a thin white head. Nose shows some caramel, sugar, bread, earth, light citrus. Flavor is similar, but I still find this saison to be a little on the sweet side. Maybe a little underattenuated. emacgee (4705) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - APR 1, 2013
Pours a very cloudy straw gold with one finger of white head. Nose is nice, very peppery and zesty with some raw bread dough and sweet fruits. Very very light vegetal note. Too much spice comes through in the flavor and approaches astringency on the palate. Spice becomes overbearing. Front of the mouth shows some yeast and fruity notes. Bottle. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a small white head. Nose is a little sour with some citrus in there with a bit of a wild elements. pint at tavern. Ok aroma, mild funk, kind of sweet, Stinky cheese and lemon aroma. Tad hazed yellow gold color, minor head and lace. Tart flavor. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, dry finish, its ok, I liked it a little more as it warmed, made me think watered down monkey bizness.
