3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance was cloudy deep gold with creamy off white diminishing 1/2 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are rich malt backbone with spicey, citrusy, fruity hops, hints of candi, toffee, caramel, slight alcohol nose. Taste are sweet malty feel with spicey, lemon, orange, pine, resin, then candi sweetness. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with meduim-full body, then spicy lasting mild hoppy sweet warming finish. Good solid local American [email protected]
22oz bomber pours with a clear deep ruby red to amber body that supports a tall tan head of foam. The aroma offers up thick pine hops blended into crystal malts, a bit of molasses, nuttiness and roasted malts. The taste delivers pine hop bitterness wrapped with a thin resiny blanket. Behind the pine hops are floral hops, malts, molasses, a thin nuttiness and then malt sweetened roasted malts. The pine hops have a firm grip on the flavor and ride unwavering into the finish. Nice American Strong Ale hoppy sipper where the large label stated ABV is hardly noticeable. BOLTZ7555 (3028) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - DEC 8, 2013

On tap at the public house in Las Vegas. Pours cloudy brown with off white head. Very bitter and citrusy. Leaves quite the aftertaste. Too sharp tasting for my liking.

2012 San Diego Strong Ale Fest---- Clear copper red color with a light tan head. Floral, pine hoppy aromas. smooth medium body. Tea leaf, pine, hoppy, lightly astringent flavors with a caramel malt base brew---bitter drying finish--not bad. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 9, 2012
Strong Ale 2012. Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Sweet toffee, brown sugar, and toasted malt aromas. Some chocolate as well as floral and herbal hops. A hint of tea, too. The flavor is somewhat herbal with a strong hop character. A bit of chocolate, some toffee, brown sugar, and toast. Light hop bitterness and a nice floral note.

A new imperial red beer, this is quite tasty but is a bit more abrasive than the alpha dog double red. Plenty of hops and a full body, I’ll have this again.
