Can’t say that I see why this one a gold medal at some tournament lately, but then again, it’s a pretty decent Irish ale. Too much malt, like most of them, but okay.

Dark amber with pure white head. Chocolate, red berries and vanilla. Mouth follows suit with some smoke added. Sweet with smoke and umami. Smooth palate. Interesting.

Can at home. Pours clear tawny with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is moderate caramel and bready malt with dates and light woody hops. Flavor is moderate toffee, caramel and bready malt, light earthy and woody hops and bitterness with dates and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draught at the Hop Nuts Brewing, Las Vegas, NV. Clear reddish mid-brown colour with a small off-white head. Nutty and toasted malty aroma with a lot of sweetness. The flavour is sweetness, nuts, nougat and malt. Passable brown ale. A bit thin though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampler at Big Dogs Brewing, Las Vegas. Pours copper/amber Aroma is malty, caramel, a tad licorice. Taste,. malty, some dark fruits, caramel and toffee.
