A true German-style hefeweizen made with 45% malted wheat, unmalted wheat, Munich malt and 2-row barley. The yeast is a southern German style strain. The flavor profile includes clove and banana undertones. This beer is unfiltered and slightly phenolic. The hop additions are all traditional Hallertauer hops.

muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Schaumburg Illinois. Opaque medium golden. Excessively sweet candyish (for candy-asses) nose, very soft body, no hops within a mile-and-a-half, lemony, artificial flavor, weak, tolerable in comparison with some of the other samples.

BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - DEC 30, 2003
Hazy straw tinge with light head and lacing. Aroma is delicate with lots of banana/clove esters and lots of yeast & bubblegum. Clean, watery mouthfeel and a light citrus zest bit. A session wheat for sure, must be drank delicately to really savor the flavors here.

Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 19, 2003
Musky yellow-orange with a good banana aroma. Smooth banana-creme flavors. This isn't as active or carbonated as a classic hefeweizen, but this is an OK version for the suburbanites.

bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 14, 2003
(Draught) Pours a hazy maze color with a small white creamy head. a unique taste, not quite your traditional German-style Hefe as advertised.

harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - SEP 24, 2003
A very bland boring, but traditional take on the german wheat. They just really did not improve on it in anyway shape or form. Just an easy to drink hef. A little more spicy thatn I like, with lots of clove coming through, maybe if this one was a little more balanced out it would have been tastier.

XMB625 (30) - USA - AUG 30, 2003
Being one who enjoys wheat beer this one is excellent. Nice amber color, beautiful white head and wonderful taste. The hint of banana flavor is present.

FlacoAlto (4182) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 27, 2003
A solid traditional Hefe weizen. This beer does not have any of the banana flavors, but the characteristic clove flavor really shines in this one. A very cloudy brew that is quite refreshing.

Aurelius (5335) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 12, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2003 Prominent banana ester nose, without much else going on in the bouquet. Muddy, brown-yellow beer. Quite tart, yeasty with a quick tart finish. Slightly substandard mouthfeel, and not much hops. Much better with the lemon.

BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAY 9, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2003 RERATE: The Indy version is much better, more hefe in nature, more citrus and crisp more complex taste than previous entry. The new rating reflects the increase in quality...In tap at Humperdinks in Arlington, Texas. A light cloudy appearance. The nose had an banana and malty aroma but not much spices. Sweet but works well with Tex-Mex foods. Drank 3 this last trip. The best of the Big Horn brews.

AceOfHearts (1374) - Mountain View, California, USA - MAY 8, 2003
Tap at Dallas location. Milky yellow. Mellow banana-clove with an added touch of sweetness compared with your normal hefe. VERY smooth mouthfeel. Best beer in the house.
