UPDATED: JUN 17, 2007 Ruby mahogany color, thin head, no lacing. Nose of peat malts, sweet melanoidins and earthy hops. The flavor is smoky and sweet, very caramelly and sweet, balanced mouthfeel, moderate body, very nice smoke. Level, clean, thick and drinkable. Very nice with a hoppy tail. Dark brown, off white head and some lacing. Sweet malts, caramel, small roast and slight earthy hops. Sweet malts in the flavor with some fruits. Bitter hops with some spices. Finishe with a warming alcohol. Braudog (6852) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUN 5, 2004
Solid black with a thin white head. This drank mediciney and hard to swallow. One of the first beers I’ve had with a gag factor. iwantalambic (1478) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 6, 2004
Draught: Dark maroon in a full pint glass with the characteristic thin strip of head that tells me the bar keep wants me to have the most beer for my money. Malt dominating aroma that is stifled by the cold temperature of the beer, but blossoms some sweet caramel and a nice earthiness when warmed. Flavours are a bit too sweet for me, but turn slightly spicey (burnt peat?). Not bad. jazz88 (2684) - San Francisco, California, USA - OCT 30, 2002
Tap. Muddy brown with a sweet caramel aroma. Fairly thick body with plenty of malts but little fruit.
