UPDATED: JUN 17, 2007 Ruby mahogany color, thin head, no lacing. Nose of peat malts, sweet melanoidins and earthy hops. The flavor is smoky and sweet, very caramelly and sweet, balanced mouthfeel, moderate body, very nice smoke. Level, clean, thick and drinkable. Very nice with a hoppy tail. 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - AUG 1, 2005
Tap. Deep ruddy brown with a nice off-white head. Very clear. Good lacing left. Caramel, a touch of smoke generalized medium roasted grains. Medium bodied, quite smooth. Hits the mark with the malt being predominant and just the smallest hints of hop bitterness. LIghtly noticeable smoke, caramel and some chocolate in flavor. Well done. harrisoni (19157) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2011
Cask gravity at Gbbf 2011. I mean I love Oregon. I love the people the beers the wine the countryside. I will try to bear all of this in mind befre I drink a style that celebrates some kind of mythical Scots drink. Cloudy hazy mid brown with thin ring of bubbles. Its a very hoppy peppery esb. Yes some toffee yes some alcohol body but its an esb. Its a very decent fruity malty beer with good hop on end. Touch alcohol syrup but fine nonetheless Sham (1844) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 20, 2004
Dark brown, off white head and some lacing. Sweet malts, caramel, small roast and slight earthy hops. Sweet malts in the flavor with some fruits. Bitter hops with some spices. Finishe with a warming alcohol.

On tap at the brewery. Pours dark amber wtih a smooth white head. Long caramel malt flavor, fruity and woody. Great balance and smooth palate. One of the best beers they were serving. BeerFanDan17 (1122) - Brunswick, Maine, USA - AUG 8, 2009
A very tasty scotch ale. Good blend of smoke and spice... even somewhat nutty. Nice malty finish and true to the style. oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 10, 2011

Deep amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruits, some mild caramel, mild wooden and leathery notes along with some nuttyness. Flavour is bready and caramel malts along with some crystal crispyness, toffee, wood and mild toasted notes. Also some slight spicy notes in the finish.
(Draft: Big Horse Brew Pub in Hood River, OR) Not a whole lot of aroma to this Scotch, but it’s packed with flavor. Predominantly sweet and caramely, a mild bitterness lends some balance, and a gentle smokiness comes out in the finsh. After a vigorous swirl, a sweet and caramely nose is coaxed out. Full bodied, coating and slightly sticky on the palate, long-lasting sweetness stays on after the finish. Attractive ruddy brown colored body, with a light-tan, but short-lived head that fades to a small ring and leaves no lacing on the glass. Another solid effort on this Scotch Ale.
