As a style it was originally brewed in England as an export product for Tsarist Russia. This is a deep black ale, with both a caramel sweetness and a burnt/roast bite from the malt. Underlying this is a lingering tang from both Nugget and East Kent Golding hops.

Dark tan head, very dark. A little bit sweet, good roasted flavor. The food was great too.

Poured a deep opaque black body with a nice looking beige-tan head. Roasted coffee and malt notes. Finished a little soft, but over all quite enjoyable.

Black, brown outline, no head, some carbonated lace signs. The aroma is full & roasted with some sweet fruit & lots of hops. The flavor is roast, no alcohol, more like a foreign stout than a RIS, no complexity.

Black with brown edges, no head and webbed lacing. Mocha aromas, chocolate and roasted malts. Coffee and raisin. Flavor is pretty much the same as the nose, but a tad more bitter. Medium body, and a finish of bitter alcohol

Black with a thin tan hea. Sweet and almost hoppy. This "imperial stout" tastes like an average American pale ale with some coffee malt added to.

Draught: pint! wonderful. What else is better than an imperial stout in a pint glass? An impressive midnight color, dark and opaque. Nice roasted qualities and creaminess on the palate; however, missing any fruity development or vinous qualities. Tasty bitter mocha finish. Not one at the top of the Imperial stout list, but a nice beer no less.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2013 Some dark red at the edges of a dark body with a tan foamy head. A pleasent roasted coffee flavor, with some residual smoke in the finish. Barely hits imperial status. Has a dry finish, and sharp, smoky aroma.

Black with a creamy tan nitro head, nice roast malt aroma, and a big roast flavor, with a little touch of sweetness to offset the coffee finish. Very good, and they make a good burger too. If you get to Hood River, and you've already been to the Full Sail brewery, try the Horsefeathers Pub for lunch.

Tap. Solid black. Huge flavor which is highly roasted. Creamy. Earthy flavors.
