COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(I.P.A). was developed in England around 1800; the extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style has developed a following worldwide. Ours begins with smooth, malty creaminess and a big burst of dry-hop flavor and aroma from a variety of American hops. It finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness. Is it Overboard? You decide.

Bottle from Top of Waikiki restaurant 251114. This is a big IPA with fresh hop aromas and a big intense flavour. Probably the best Hawaiian beer I have had.

Overboard, no. Fantastically delicious yes. This could be compared to Sculpin IPA with it’s fruity and citrus aromas. The mild sweetness up front and pleasant bitterness balance this beer out great. A true gem hidden on the big island.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2016 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (sugar cookie, caramel, bread), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot, melon), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of peach, dried mango, pineapple, passion fruit, tangerine, aspirin. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. I honestly am shocked this doesn’t contain tropical fruit juice, the aroma is off the hook with tropical fruit scents, just incredibly enticing and easily one of the best aromas in the world of IPA.

A golden IPA with a thin white head. In aroma, a wonderful citrus and resinous hops, catnip, very classic. In mouth, a nice smooth biscuit malt with loads of citrusy hops, catnip, pink grapefruit, excellent. At the REAL gastropub, Zwanze day, Dec. 1 2012.

Tap at the Brewhaus. Pour is clear gold with a thin tan. Aroma and flavor loaded with bright citrus hops and a softly sweet biscuit malt base. Really clean and full. Certainly not light but really well done. This was my favorite.

Very nice golden color and large white head, as pored from the large, 650 ML bottle. Back to an IPA that has the strong bitterness I have come to expect, or did, before trying some Japanese craft IPA’s. the hops really stand out in typical IPA fashion. It gets a bit smoother as you progress through the glass and turns into a nice, freshly bitter beer. This is back to the real taste of a classic IPA done right. Strong and full bodied, but doesn’t fight you all the way down.
