75 cl. Deep brown with off white creamy heady, lots of lacings. Served room temperature. Aroma is coffee, cocoa, slight alcohol, raisins, nuts, slight sherry like note. Taste is caramelly sweet upfront, raisins, roasted notes, big on malt, later peppery bitterness and alcohol, yeasty notes, dry coffee in the finish. Big body, medium carbo. Found a bottle as a last one ( back of the fridge ) in a bar that wasn’t aware of the different versions. luck, I guess? Pours dark brown, very big white head. Smell is intense, roasty. Taste is roasted malts, some dark chocolate. dark fruits, indeed. very rich, yet a bit simple. Not silky, as I love in stouts, and has ( still) a certain level of bitterness I love in IPA’s, but not in stouts. Pours deep ruby, almost black with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma of chocolate,light roasted malts. Taste is light roasted, weak sweet chocolate, fruity, a bit high carbonation level. Lingering light roasted caramel.

Vintage bottle tasted at 666 in Uccle near Brussels. Creamy, loose, off-white head over a deeply bronze beer, but not opaquely black. Pleasant aroma of home made caramel, chocolate and cocoa, bourbon, raisins, banana, sherry-like oxidation and walnuts. Candied sweet onset, but not too sugary or cloying, candied dates and raisins, banana, strong hearty umami flavour, soft carbo, roasted and caramelly malts, bittering and rich, toasted bread, peppery hops and brandy-like alcohol in the finish. Bottle. Pours near black in color with a nice and steady off-white head. Roasted coffee and dark somewhat bitter notes in aroma at first. After that appears some hints of nuttyness and dried dark fruits. Lots of roasted notes in taste with additional notes of some licorice and dark fruits. 75cl. bottle. Pours a very deep red color - almost black, with a two-finger foamy light brown head. Aroma of malt and coffee. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice, fruits and yeast. The finish is dry, bitter and a bit sour. Medium body and average carbonation. Well, it looks great in that bottle and with that label, but after two years in my cupboard I’d hoped for something more. It’s a bit boring really - not bad just not anything special. I think it gave me more pleasure looking at the unopened bottle.
