The light red and amber coloring of this beer is a result of using special crystalized barley. This smooth style starts off with a slightly sweet mellow mouth feel and finishes up with a clean finish. Using fresh floral hops at the start of the boil allows the complex subtle maltiness to shine. A classic!    AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20
GuillaumeCL (344) - Toronto, Ontario, - FEB 1, 2013
Pours a light brown with a bit of white head that dissipates quickly. Smell is fairly sweet, with a bit of fresh fruit, like apples and raspberry, and a bit of citrus, quite refreshing. Palate is light bodied with aggressive but short lasting carbonation. Taste is sweet at first, then gets a bit of a bitter hop kick, then goes quickly to nothing, with no real aftertaste to speak of. Kind of boring, but the smell is decently interesting. Probably best served quite cold on a patio.

On tap at victory cafe. Reddish colour. Malt and some astringent finish. So so.

shaynsawchuk (713) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 17, 2015
650 mL bottle. Hazy burnished copper with a thin cap of white. Aromas of toasty malt, mild toffee, apple, grassy hops. Mild sweetness up front but decidedly dry throughout. A hint of roast and hop bitterness on the back end. Light bodied and quenching. Moderate carbonation. Well made but not memorable.

AleRider78 (1456) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - APR 19, 2015
Enjoyed at the brewpub (last visit, they were sold out). Arrived with a small bubbly head, and settled into a thin layer. Not much carbonation. Had a hazy, coppery appearance. Not much of a distinct aroma, maybe a bit of vanilla, wheats and grains. Taste is of roasted malts, spices, hints of lemon and tropical fruits. Slight watery mouthfeel. Not too bad.

Boutip (6533) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 16, 2015
Bottle: Poured a light golden/amber color ale with a small foamy head with light retention and not much lacing. Aroma of unrefined grainy notes which is not the most enticing. Taste is also dominated by off unrefined grainy notes with weird vegetable aftertaste. Body is about average for style with medium carbonation. Something appears to be off here.

[6129-20140118] Tap. Sweet corny yeast grains aroma. Clear, orange body with a quick foamy white head. Sweet grainy yeast flavour. Medium body. Good. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

650 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a clear orange colour with white head that quickly recedes to nothing. Aroma is sweet with caramel, grains and light fruitiness. Flavour is also fairly sweet with caramel and fruit as well as a bit of graininess. Mellow carbonation. Decent.

jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 28, 2014
2014-01-18. Crisp golden amber body small head. Aroma is sweetly malty, caramel touches. Flavour is similarly sweet with caramel malt character and mild diacetyl notes. Average plus bodied palate, light carbonation. Draft sampler at the brewpub, Ottawa

czar (9430) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 29, 2013
tap on the premises. clear golden orange - not remotely close to a red, with a small white cap, little retention and lacing. caramel and butter - sweetish honeyed very lightly toasted maltiness - barley sugar, earthy and grassy, chalk, underlying fruity notes. average carbonation, light body - almost watery, bland herbal-grassy finish. blah.

solidfunk (9407) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - DEC 5, 2013
Pretty boring red lager. Average carbonation. Pours reddish clear amber. Finishes a little sweet with some off-tasting sourness - even the gold is better than this. Doesn’t come together well. Tap at brewpub.

Alpha10 (830) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 2, 2013
2013/03/02 - Pours a light, clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts, smoke, caramel and apple. Taste is caramel, toffee and apples with a dry finish. Medium mouthfeel with lots of carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
