A two time medalist, this opaque black stout is boldly aggressive with a roasted flavor stemming from rich UK malt. Iron Horse Stout was awarded the top medal in the 1998 World Beer Cup Competition in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, and the bronze medal in the 2000 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

Tap at Seven Bridges during RBWG 2013. Pours red-brown with a tight beige cream head. A pretty good-looking beer. Ashy roast in the nose, bit of earth. Sweet, some light roast, earthy bitterness, milk chocolate. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate roast to finish, some tobacco, sweet cocoa. Decent.

BREWMUSKCLES (2759) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 19, 2013
moderate body with soda effervecsence and good flavor of roasted and slightly smokey coffee and perhaps a dash of cocoa. mellowed with a vanilla like sweetness and served in the small glasses at disney orlando.

3 oz. Pour. Midnight black with a cocoa head. Huge espresso flavor with a sweetness to the finish.

On tap at Big River Grille - Chattanooga. Poured near black with a dirty beige head. The aroma picked up toasty black and coffee malts with fresh earthy accents.. good, seemingly drier stout. The flavor found burnt dark chocolate, coffee grounds, and black malt at the core.. dry, earthy and roasty bitterness around.. more hoppy on the tasty finish. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate.. good roast to it.. this was a very solid dry stout.

8/22/12. On tap at the Seven Bridges brewpub. Black pour with a small tan head. Very light roasted coffee and milk chocolate on the aroma. Roasted coffee and chocolate on the flavor with slick, oily cream. Meh.

Pours near black. Good lacing. Light aroma of roasted grain. Taste is malty sweet forward with a smoked bitterness at the finish which also has the sweetness linger. I like this type of stout.

Dark brown in color, clear with a thin head. Dark roast malt with some chocolate and coffee aroma and flavor. Tad watery in the finish this an average Stout.

DrinkEmUpJones (1069) - Georgia, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Great coffee aroma with a red black color and thin white lacing. Full on the palate with strong coffee notes. Probably the most flavorfull of the beer selections. Great in cold weather.

Gift from SJ. A little thin for a stout. What I did like was the nice roasted malt and nut combination. And it had a decent chocolate aroma. I just wish it was a bit thicker.
