Very easy-drinking marzen, creamy and heavy on the toffee-caramel notes without growing overly sweet. Nutty and pastry-like on the finish, with slight apple esters and the mildest of hop bitterness on the fade. Pretty red-orange hue with a nice white head and modest lacing. Mediocre nose. Surprisingly nice festbier overall.

Good looking copper brew. Light malty, nutty aroma. Good balance of malt, and lightly spicy hops. Malty finish. Medium body with a sticky lingering finish.

Pint on tap. Dark copper with a lasting ring of bubbles. Nose is caramel, some hints of dried grass and maybe some citrus. Taste is the same, with some grain. Draught at the Hamilton Place location. Pours deep clear amber with khaki head. The aroma is light caramel and toast with some distant cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg, maybe some vanilla, and some faint raisin. The flavor is toasted and Munich malt, and sort of a dusty caramel sweetness. It finishes with wood, herbal notes, and a slight drying spiciness. Yeasty aftertaste. Very malty and boring. Drank a number of these before a concert in September October. Not a whole lot going on and felt a bit heavy. Still it wasn’t all bad. And it is an Oktoberfest. Can’t expect a whole lot.
