COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Vienna lager is a light, amber-colored lager. This European style was developed when Vienna was the center of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Since 1833, Vienna lager has quenched many a thirst with its subtle combination of malted barley, and German hops, and its clean, crisp finish. A wonderful beer for any season.

Draft-Big River Brewery-Chattanooga, TN. This beer had a small sized white head that contained fine sized bubbles that was mostly lasting. The body was uncarbonated and transparent with an orange hue. It had a malty nose and a bitter and hoppy flavor to it. The mouthfeel was bitter and fairly smooth. This was a light-medium bodied beer that was just so-so.

Appearance: Pours a clear, mahogany-hued body with a 1 inch head of off-white foam. Smell: Faint bready malt aroma with slight herbal notes. Taste: A blend of bready and biscuity maltiness with a touch of caramel sweetness. Very faint touch of fruitiness. Herbal, tea-like hop character with a mild bitterness. Touch grainy near the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A tolerable Vienna, though it does leave me hankering for an Eliot Ness.

On tap at BRG in Chattanooga. Deep amber colored body with excellent clarity. and very clear body with a semi-durable tan head and a little lacing. Lightly sweet aroma with about equal hops and malts and a hint of caramel Flavor: lightly sweet up front and mildly bitter by the aftertaste; hints of baked bread and faint hops. The medium body is very smooth; near medium carbonation. O: solid but unexceptional.

On tap at the bar at the brewery. Beautiful looking beer, ample head, clear bright amber color. Decent but subdued malt aroma. The flavor was scaled back a bit too, but this was one of the better ones Ive had from there so far. Just needs a bit more body and flavor to suit me.

This is a blah beer. It has a nice amber, glowing color but lacks a lasting head. There is no aroma and has less flavor than their light lager. It's just bland. There is a bit of caramel and maybe a little wood. Quite smooth, but I've had better Viennas.

Draught. Pours light copper with a faint white head. The aroma is sweet in a floral way with a very low acidity. The flavor is predominantly malty, though the brew is still thin overall. Hints of chocolate bread and nutmeg make up the light flavor and perhaps a small nip in the finish. Not so bad.

Golden copper with a thin off white foam. Aroma of caramelized malt, toasted malt. Taste is the same caramel and toasted malt but feels watery.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2003 A good beer especially for something found at a minor league baseball game. Appearance is orangish. Aroma is malty and fruity. Flavor has a nice malt kick with a slightly fruity taste, maybe apricots and oranges, and some hop presence. Mouthfeel is quite nice, creamy and smooth, with a nice bite. Much better than I expected.
