COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First rolled out in 2014, our Bourbon barrels are back at work for this new offering.

Beer aged in barrels takes on the rich flavours of the wood, while also adopting the characters of the barrels previous tenant.

Single trip Kentucky Bourbon barrels made of oak have been used to cultivate this homegrown Porter. Aged for six months, then blended to a full body, deep brown to black, with six malts, here’s a deliciously exotic and extremely well-spoken brew.

650ml bottle. Rich toffee, caramel and bourbon aroma. Dark porter appearance with very small yellowish head and minimal carbonation. Flavours are roasted coffee, caramel and brown sugar with hints of bourbon. Slick medicinal texture. Long and sweet malt finish with warming alcohol.

Aroma is dark malts, brown sugar, sweet bourbon, and fresh biscuits. Tasye is deep rich malts with caramel, toffee and biscuits. A thick almost chewy mouth finish. Light tart on tip to round it out. Appearance is black with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

Bottle from Big Rock Urban. Dark brown, with a medium, caramel-coloured head. The aroma is fairly strong on the bourbon, with some sweeter caramel notes. Full body, quite soft with a lot of nice dark sugars. Light fruitiness, gentle molasses and quite a bit of bourbon. The lack of roast distinguishes it from an imperial stout and to be honest I like that about this beer.

Tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color. Aroma of bourbon, tobacco, meat, Sriracha, spices. Lean mouthfeel, not too thick, not too sweet; good dark malts and caramel, moderate bourbon taste, a bit boozy.
Not too bad.

650mL bottle, pours a reddish deep dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out lots of dark fruits, light bourbon, and light toasted malt. Flavour brings out a nice bourbon quality upfront, followed by some dark fruit and caramel. Not especially robust, but it’s well-constructed. Nicely done.
