On tap: Nice bretty sourness in the aroma with some faint cherry sweetness. It’s a hazy dark orange with a moderate white head. The flavor starts with some quick yeastiness and faint cherry in the background. The finish has moderate bretty lemon sourness with some faint woodiness. Very well done. masonjer (609) - Holt, Michigan, USA - FEB 25, 2008
Had this at the MBGF08. This was the standout beer of the day. I was shocked by how good this was. Vinegar on the nose as well as some nice fruit. Taste was full and delicious. Funky and rich, lots of fermented apples and maybe some pear as well. Still, nice and drinkable. This was awesome. notalush (5955) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - SEP 20, 2008
Thanks to mibirder for the bottle - very hazy peach-colored beer, with a fizzy lace - aroma of sour peach, muscat grapes, apple skins, some acid and light barnyardy funk - some acetone up front in the flavor is it’s one flaw, but this is quickly covered up by the other complexities of the beer - full sweetness arrives next, with apple and white grape - a mild funk and strong acidity form after that, countering the sweetness - this is a damn fine beer. hopdog (13258) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 28, 2009
12oz bottle (thanks George!). Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy golden color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of barnyard funkiness, leather, grapes, yeast, and some fruitiness. Tastes of tart cherries, grapes, vinegar, some woodiness, and funky. I found this one to have a light sweetness with a nice sour and tartness. BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - AUG 4, 2007
MiBGF 07: Slightly murky bronze hue with a small foamy head. The aroma has a nice heathery, floral hops, dusty yeast esters along with a hint of cherry pit and apricot vapours. The taste has a smooth malt base with a dash of tartness around the edges supported by a hint of pepper and wood upon the finish. This beer is grounded with a yeast and wheat character throughout. The mouth feel is smooth and soft with the exception of the quick acidic bite and a dry woody finish. A wonderful surprise indeed and one of the best of the fest. Not a classic Biere de Garde nor Saison but wonderfully tasty!

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2012 MBGF07. Hazy, light amber body with a tiny white head. The nose is green apples, apricots, light horseblanket, herbal and bread. The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly tart with pineapple, peach, cider and bread. Medium body is soft with light carbonation. Best beer of the fest. dmschefke (583) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - MAY 18, 2009
Might as well throw in my rating since I have this often, but just never got around to it. Pours a very hazy brownish orange with thick off-white head that dissipates smaller quickly, but laces well. Aroma of overripe fruits, dried fruit, strong malt, and caramel. Flavor is very tart and matches the aroma with the addition of citrus, raspberry, and that characteristic funkiness. This is definitely not a good introduction to sours though. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUN 17, 2010
Nose is full of green apple, lemon, softer undertones of tripel, nice and tart citric and lactic. Golden orange frothy white head. Sharp lactic sour, some vinegar, lemony notes, soft undertones of triple, but this is sour as hell. Woody, mouth coating sour green apple. Light to medium carbonation. Sharp sour lactic notes. Super enjoyable. Love the blend and sour triple. kmweaver (3208) - Petaluma, California, USA - APR 28, 2008
12oz bottle, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a slightly hazy, ruby-cherry color; slightly off-white head with patchy lacing. Loads of tart cherries, red fruits (cherries, strawberries), bright citrus and fruit juice in the aroma; very pleasant nose. Average carbonation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: cherry / strawberry juice, tart and plenty of funkiness, citrus, and a solid touch of acidity; very pleasant sour beer. Medium finish: lasting sourness and acidity, red fruits and light citrus. Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 1, 2008
Bottle at the pre-DLD hotel tasting, thanks to artusory! Poured just lightly hazy medium golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma showcased sour fruit skins and vinegar backed by pale malt and toffee sweetness.. dry peppery yeast accents.. quite vibrant. The flavor had sweet, sticky fruit surrounded by sour vinegar and dry cherry dust.. sour finish with even more vinegar.. complex and very enjoyable. Sour, dry, and well-balanced on the palate. I’d love to try this again sometime.
