COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The IPA may have its roots in the UK, but our Californicator is all about West Coast USA, and the West Coast USA is all about the hops baby! We sample old and new hop varieties to bring citrus, passionfruit, apricot and pine. We crank the booze for balance and keep the yeast profile clean so nothing takes away from the hops. Enjoy it any way you like because what goes in Cali, stays in Cali.

330ml bottle from Beer Crate. Hazy dark golden, firm dense white head. Hop aroma is a little disappointing (perhaps not the freshest sample) but still notes of sweet orangey citrus, passionfruit and pine needles with biscuit malt presence. Palate is fullish bodied, creamy and malty before citrus and resinous hop bitterness kicks in. Tastes better than the rather muted aroma would suggest.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2017 Dark amber, peach and pine on the nose, caramel on the tongue, your classic west coast ipa.

Bottle. 24/12/17. Pours a very dark amber, with a thin off white head and moderate lacing. Grapefruit and pine aromas support strong biscuity caramel and a bit of grog. The fruit stands out in the flavour profile however, with grapefruit and stone fruit at the front. Strong pine bitterness follows an underlying caramel, taken to the perfect edge before it dominates. A big, strong, immaculate version of a West Coast IPA (close to a double) perfect for Christmas Eve anywhere.

Bottle from Plonk (April 2015). Dark amber/copper, creamy off-white head, caramel, dank pine, grapefruit, apricot, resinous bitterness, full body, smooth thick texture. Excellent.

Deep amber, slightly hazy pour with a thick beige head. Grapefruit, pine, caramel aromas dominate. Taste is heavy malt, toffee, then tropical fruit comes through, finishes with a fair bit of bitterness

330ml bottle. Pours a dark amber brown with a thin tan head. Aroma: citrus and tropical notes balanced by caramel malt. Taste: citrus, peaches, nectarines, grapefruit, pine flavours. Mild caramel, toffee and biscuity malt flavours. Very bitter. The bitterness dominates the palate and the backend of this beer. Resinous texture. Quite tasty and easy to drink.

Lovely rich colour. Quite heavy and toffee malt laden with a dash of tropical fruit. Good strength and you can taste the alcohol but it’s definitely not too overbearing

330ml bottle. Consumed from the bottle, so I can’t comment on the pour. Strong tropical fruit and citrus hops aromas, backed by a little caramel malt. Strong pine and citrus hops up front, with an apricot flavour leading into caramel malt in the mid-palate. Strong tropical hops to finish. A very good IPA, possibly the best Australian take on they style I’ve tried.

Keg - Ze Pickle, Sydney. Poured a deep amber with a lasting, creamy one-finger off-white head. Mango, peach, pineapple, grapefruit. Some sweetness upfront and plenty of grapefruit bitterness but, for me, the alcohol was far too present and gave it a gin-like heat. Medium to full body, soft to medium carbonation and a moderate length and intensity finish.
