Bottle from Sun devil Liquors. Pours yellow with inches of white foam that dissipates quickly. Very effervescent in the tongue. Has a bit of funk in the nose. Some subdued barnyard of the tongue. Solid but not amazing. onceblind (10897) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 18, 2013
Clear pale gold with a rocky white head...like a lager. Smells like bread crust and pilsner malts...like a lager (not giving enough credit here, though bread crust and pilsner doughiness are prevalent here. There’s also a bit of earthy floral tones and a touch of orange zest. And the head actually leaves good lacing and retains well). Flavor is packed with hay and orange rind citrus, a bit of floral hops, and a bit of doughiness. Finishes estery and clean with a touch of pilsner malt and orange sweetness. $7.20 for a 6’er of this at WinCo of all places... Great deal! Pours into my HotD goblet with a 2 finger white head.. nice retention, but only splotchy lacing... the brew is hazed straw golden.
The aromas are only okay in the traditional saison realm.. grainy/wheat malt presence.. I guess some minor peppery phenols, but no real fruity esters.. seems too malt dominant for a "saison". Could use any sort of Belgian esters.
Very grainy on the palate.. not as dry on the palate as expected for the style.. light yeasty peppery quality.. perhaps some minor clove and even some bandaid. Wheat malt lays down a minor (very minor) tartness, but there is no yeasty sour notes to speak of.
Body is thick for a saison.. the residual malts left on the palate accentuate this... and the carbonation isn’t really that good either.
Despite all my above negatives, I see what the good folks at Big Sky were trying to accomplish and I would suggest a very different yeast.
But for what this is, it is very, very refreshing and unlike anything the other breweries have in the cooler right now.... I will certainly buy it again... This should have been released in late spring.. Late night fire-pit parties, afternoon yard-work, and camping/fishing/hot-springing with an interesting/individual brew.
Decent... I see the bones; but this should have been more adventurous and it would have been great (especially in a 6-pack).

12 oz bottle from a six pack bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Pours hazy golden with a collapsing white head. Aroma is pretty bland for a saison. I smell grain, faint banana, faint pepper, faint lemon; almost as boring-smelling as an American golden/blonde ale. Taste is pretty hoppy bitter for your average saison...who are we kidding here? This doesn’t taste anything like any saison I’ve ever had. It tastes more like an American pale ale with faint--and when I say faint, I mean extremely faint--Belgian characteristics. Finishes with a light tang. Mouthfeel is foamy, texture watery, body medium to thin. Average pale ale; substandard saison. MikeJslc (778) - Alabama, USA - APR 20, 2013
Gold, hazy. off-white head. Grainy-sweet malt with some cornlike notes, a little hay, some light herbal and earthy notes. Finishes grainy and relatively dry, with some lingering herbal notes.

12oz bottle. Hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of zesty spice, herbs, lemon and cereal grains. Flavor is toasty malt, spicy yeast esters, light bitter and no alcohol taste. Medium to light body with average carbonation. Nice easy drinking mild saison. Bricktop86 (937) - Moore, Oklahoma, USA - MAY 27, 2013
Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is wheat, lemon, and spices. Taste follows nose jeremyh70 (1115) - Missouri, USA - MAY 28, 2013
A golden orange color with a big rocky off white head with nice retention and good lacing. I get lemon and orange zest aroma with a little funk and grain on the nose. Taste light fruit, orange and banana, with quite a bit of toasted grain and a bit of pepperiness. Has a saltine cracker flavor mid palate and finishes semi dry with a slight bitterness and more grain. Soft mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation. A little clean and a bit off for the style. Could use some more funk and less grain, but not a bad tasting beer. edgallow (4640) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 27, 2013
