Dark brown in color, with a thin head. Nice roasty malt flavor light with hops. Light malt flavors some toffee and caramel. The overall this beer was dry and easy drinking vikingguy (1106) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Rusty color with medium-tall off-white head. Fragrant sweet malt aroma. Taste is rich and buttery. Rum, dark fruit, caramel and toffee. Chewy and full bodied. A good Scotch Ale. luttonm (6661) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Draft. Nice fresh scotch, light funk, not much progression. But quite alright. Rich full body. jonhall (62) - - AUG 10, 2012
Pours amber. Overall seems to be missing something. It's drinkable for sure but I wouldn't seek this out. I'd rather have a Belhaven Wee Heavy or a Dirty Bastard.

First scotch ale I have had definitely a pleasant drink but nothing exceptionally extraordinary.

12 ounce bottle for only $1.29 at World Market! This is one of the best Scotch Ales I’ve had. The whiskey flavor is clearly there, but it’s smooth not harsh and it mixes well with some toffee and vanilla. If you like whiskey, you’ll like this, as long as you can take the large amount of sweetness. I like how they managed to eliminate the typical metallic aspects you find in most Scotch Ales. Medium bodied. There wasn’t much of an aroma, other than the sweetness. It’s a mahogany brown-red in color with an inch of foam at top that retains itself nicely. I really liked this beer and I’d give it an A -. fiercepanda (615) - Missouri, USA - JUL 13, 2012
A clear, dark reddish brown beer with a small tan head. The aroma is malty grain, wood, and some fruitiness, almost like cherries. The flavor is slightly sweet malt, wood, fruit, and bread. RasterMaster (258) - , Oklahoma, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Dark amber pour into thick pillowy beige head that dissipates into a curtain of sticky lacing that slowly melts into a pool of lingering foam as carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass. Aroma of roasted hazelnut, sweet caramel and chocolate malt. Initial flavor of smoky oak, chocolate and dark molasses with hints of plum that fades into a malty caramel finish. Six pack from corner store. Smells yeasty. Pours a nice brown with not much head. Taste is a solid but simple brown, with some of the notes of a scotch ale. Nice if not overly exciting.
