Also 22nd February 2011. Clear deep brown beer. Light airy and dry palate. When very cold this tastes very much of butterscotch. As it warms it gets more rich and tangy. Malt with bourbon and aniseed and spice. Sweetish vanilla oak. Lactose and wood. Nothing unusual here but a nice BA Barleywine and very drinkable.

Dark color, brown with red shades; the head is initially generous, reducing to a persistent creamy layer. The aroma is very strong, vanilla oak in the front, then sweet malt and caramel, creamy; rich and well blended. As anticipated by the head, the mouthfeel is initially too carbonated, preventing a proper tasting; once gone, the malt flavor explodes in full power, and well sweet; the body is strong and round; there is a strong vanilla oak presence and a nutty touch; the alcohol warms the mouth beyond the expectations at this ABV. Quite strong bitterness.
750mL bottle, pours murky reddish brown with a big beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, treacle, some dark fruits and pungent hops. Flavour reveals the brown sugar most dominantly, with a wonderful balance between caramel malts and hops. Extremely well-made barley wine.
