A funky farmhouse cherry aroma. This is very strange. Sweet, but also funky, almost like this has some chocolate. Hard to explain this other that I really enjoyed it and don’t understand this low rating at all. I understand that it isn’t smooth but I missed the phenols and got no soda out of this. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 25, 2007
750 ml bottle. I was lucky enough to get a bottle of this from my father who was traveling through Missoula, MT. This is an excellent cherry strong ale... Pours a deep amber with a thin white head. Aromas of honey and cherries... nice medium body and very smooth over the palate. Thick cherry flavors dominate the palate... but not overly so. Pleasant aftertaste lingers. Overall, a very good beer that is not easily obtainable - so if you see it - grab one. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 10, 2008
750, capped and foiled. Rich red body under a thinnish gray film. Nice sweet and funky cherry and horseblanket nose. Medium body, fizzy. Light, balanced, pleasant cherry and brown bread mid-palate. Very proportional. Great stuff, though understated. Hides the alcohol very well. Drake (14109) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Bottle shared at the 6th annual Richmond Industry Gathering, 11/27/11. 2008 vintage, bottle 580. Pours murky amber with a large pillowy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big toffee malts, faint cherries and other fruits. The taste is cherries, earthy notes and a tart finish. Good beer. 4600th rating! BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JUL 1, 2009

Aroma: Fruity cherry aroma with a light malt backing.
Appearance: Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: A nice fruity cherry flavor with a nice malt backing this was a very nice fruit beer.
Palate: Great Finish, with a Nice Mouthfeel.
Overall: This was a well brewed fruit beer needed more to make this a huge beer.
75 cL bottle. Pours dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is dry wooden and slight caramelish. Roasted malty and caramelish. Lingering dark roasted caramel. Dry caramelish and wooden vanilla like finish. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - SEP 15, 2007
From the bottle this pours dark red/copper with a soft white head. Belgian dubbelesk, spicy, with a dark cherry sweetness to the finish. Roasted pecans and brown sugar in the flavor. The cherry flavor isn’t overwhelming, and the spiciness of the yeast esters compliments it well. A bit more sourness or acidity would give this more of a lambic edge and really improve it in my opinion. But on its own this is a solid beer. Bockyhorsey (2638) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - FEB 25, 2008
Had a sample at Strong beer fest in Mesa, thought would try full bottle. Fermented cherries for aroma. Amber body with white head. Thick body with charries with medium amout of tartness. Leaves th palate with some dryness so you’ll need a palate refresher after this one. DaSilky1 (2608) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 2, 2009
Ruby pink color, thin frothy halo’d top. Nose of fermented fruit, marzipan, and alcohol. Flavors dominant in marzipan notes and yeastiness. Not much cherry coming through but the mouthfeel is thick and the bitterness is pretty firm in the finish. In fact, this is somewhat hot and boozy..but possibly in a good way. vikingguy (1106) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - APR 9, 2010
(#161 of 2028) Pours an attractive deep ruby color with small, yet long lasting pinkish head. Lots of carbonation. Fragrant sour cherry dominates the aroma. Taste is tart cherry balanced well with a solid malt backbone. Sweet but definitely not to the point of cloying. Dry palate. A little medicinal but wasn’t a big turn-off for me. Alcohol hidden well. I think this is rated too low. It’s complex, cherry flavor tastes natural, malty, good balance of sweet and sour, good palate. I wouldn’t say this is outstanding, but it is very solid.
