Pours a cloudy, medium-toned beige with an aroma of candy-sweet cherry lozenge and oaky smoke. Flavor is cloyingly sweet dull cherry juice. Thick and gelatinous on the tongue. Sweet, gelatinous, and confusing. portableparty (2398) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 9, 2011
2008 bottle (88 of 2028). Pours a blood orange color with a quick fizzy off white head that countinues to fizz. Aroma is fruity caramel and farmhouse with maybe some slight cherries in the nose, very candied. Taste is very interesting to say the least. I get cough syrup and sweet and tart rotten cherries with plenty of yeast with caramel malt flavors. Palate is tons of carbonation and ends sticky and dry. I dont know about this one. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 3, 2008
(750ml bottle, thanks acrdz) Hazy amber body topped by medium off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, cherry, some caramel. Taste is sweet, cherry, alcohol. Medium-full body, some effervescence. ApisAles (1575) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - JUN 1, 2009
Poured a really nice looking ruby/amber color with an off white head. Aroma was medicinal cherry, some weird astringent notes and some maltiness. Flavor was weak cherry cough syrup and alcohol. The cherry flavor was trying but it tasted a little aritficial and kind of coated the mouth. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - DEC 25, 2009
Sampled on 12/18/2009. Bottle # 392 of 2028. 2008 version. This fruit beer pours a cherry red color from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cherry, caramel, malt and sweet. A medium bodied fruit beer. The malts are caramel, cherry and semi-sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Lively carbonation. A touch of tartness. Interesting, but kind of disappointing. The cherry flavors are just kind of there, they are sweet or tart. The base beer is bland and mild and frankly totally uninteresting. This would not be that much of a problem if the cherry flavors were a little more dynamic. Add bland to bland and you get bland. Drinkable, I have had a lot worse cherry beers, but this one is average at best. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

(2008 750ml 1685 of 2028) Huge amount of off-white foam. Body color of cherry soda. Lots of carbonation in the glass. Aroma kind of bready with a hint of cherry. Not overly sweet fruit aromas. Flavor not what I expected. Very very dry with bitterness on the palate. It’s catagorized as a fruit beer, but I’d stick it more in a Belgian-style instead. I have to wonder if this flavor is due to aging, or whether it’s supposed to be like this. Sorry Big Sky. This one ain’t a keeper. :-( slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 14, 2014
i have to start by saying this is probably the worst "expensive" beer I’ve ever had. What exactly did i pay $14 for? Pours a redish-amber, similar to Rogue’s Menage Cherry Frog, and like that one ( a cherry flavored belgian) this one is a miss. Not a Kriek, not really tart...a little bitter, sweet semi-fake cherry taste, which does get better as the beer opens up, but somehow it manages to be thin and overcarbonated while also having way too strong an alcohol bite for a beer that’s the Montana legal limit of 8.75%...to the extent that i question if it’s really stronger and the label is just a gimmick. Probably not, but this beer really is a bit of a mess. Definitely won’t buy again for the steep asking price." BückDich (5477) - McCall, Idaho, USA - FEB 17, 2008
Bottle Smoove Cherry Ale: Caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose of medicinal cough medicine or cough drops, really light fake cherry already; no malt. The flavor is ok, cherry pie (strudel, more like a hostess cake) and light bitter husk. Fairly awful for such a boisterous display of price, bottle and price. jkwalking05 (4745) - Arlington, Texas, USA - AUG 18, 2009
Bottle thanks to rollinhard. Red in color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is of gym socks, cherry, cheese and brown sugar. Taste is of malt, caramel, cherry, very sweet and brown sugar. daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 22, 2010
Mahagony pour. Odd cherry syrup or preserve flavor mixed with a typical beer. Flavor is cherry. Not overly sweet and pretty boring to speak of.
