(Bottle 65 cl) Slightly hazy amber golden with a tiny head. Aroma of caramel and citrus. Medium body with some rather sweet caramel notes and then some extremely fruity, pleasant citrus notes. Very American - very lovely. 130806 joergen (28102) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 14, 2006
Hazy golden coloured with an off white head.
Sweet aroma of fruits, dried fruits, caramel and hops.
Flavour of dried fruits, hops, pine needles and caramel. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 17, 2006
On tap at brewpub. Cloudy copper. Small head. Grapefruit and orange aroma. Very nice taste, but not crazy hops. Dry finish. shadey (2135) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 15, 2006
Darker orange color with thin white head. Aroma is mild sweetness with hop bitterness in the finish. The flavor is plnety of bitterness. Not a lot of complexity. Not quite worthy of the 93 percentile I see here. OldMrCrow (2437) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 9, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2006 On tap at the brewery 5/9/06. Pours a lighter orange amber with an adequate head. The aroma is all c-hops, with plenty of citrus rind and floral texture. The flavor follows, with a bracingly bitter (but oily-bitter, not dry-bitter) attack, and relatively little sweetness given the style. Not a whole lot of complexity here and little evidence of the malts, but one certainly gets an enjoyable hop blast. I wouldn’t set this on par with the Scarlet Fire or Bhagwan’s Best, but it’s a nice enough brew and it certainly packs a punch by the pint.

Rerate at Brouwers’ hopfest ’06, under the name "Big Time 10th Anniversary IPA". I hadn’t realized that I’d had this one before, but my rating is identical in score, actually, albeit swapping the appearance 3 and the palate 4. I wrote "Pours amber brown with great lacing. The aroma is relatively mild with some tropical fruit and grapefruit rind; the flavor is well balanced and relatively restrained in sweetness compared with some of the other Big Time IPA and IIPA ventures. The flavor comes on sweet only late in the flavor profile; this one is light on the malt, simply a hop showcase, and very hot on the palate.
This beer was on draught at the Brouwers Hopfest in Seattle, WA. Its pours a cloudy orange color with a hint of amber, a thin pearlish head and fairly good lacing. The aroma is extremely floral with hops, pine, twigs, earthiness and caramel in there. Very nice usage of malts both in the aroma and flavor to balance out the crazy IBU content.. 75 IBU’s according to the menu. Big time caramel backbone mixed in with an extremely sticky and sappy bittering hop charade. Bittering sticky finish, sappy with floral hints everywhere and moments of orange tangyness. Fairly low carbonated beer. Full bodied and well balanced.

Vibrant centennial and cascade hops provide piney, citrusy, grassy notes to the nose.
The malt profile is pretty sweet, showscase biscuits and caramel. The hop bitterness is fairly harsh but balances nice and provides notes of wood, pine, lemon and tangerine. Left Coast hoppiness as its best. Nicely done. 3fourths (9341) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 12, 2004
Sampled @ brewery. Just a little murky orange haze. Big scorching bitterness, syrupy orange and sugar... strong alcohol burn, biting hops, but, thankfully, not too bad. Finish is dry and sticky, big hops everywhere, but unbalanced and still disorganized, though not to the extent of some IIPAs. Nose is minerally and musty hops. Tap at brewpub, Good nose, piney orange combo. Hazt reddish orange color. Small to no head. sweet bitter flavors, grapefruit, burnt, grapefruit, toffee, tad metallic. Thinner body, bitter finish. Tasty, not a overwhelming iipa, but real good. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 27, 2004
Hazy golden body with off-white head, nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, floral, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, floral, big malt underbelly. Alcohol noticeable, especially in the finish. Medium-full body, some stickiness. Nicely done I2PA -- maintained balance with big malts underneath the big hops.
