A serviceable if uninspired stout. Pours dark with little head. Aroma is light roasted malt. Slightly bitter finish makes it a bit more interesting. dnstone (3430) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - MAR 8, 2012
Roasty aroma. Brownish in color. Flavor is roasty with a bit of apple notes.

Cask at GBBF 2010. An opaque brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has light notes of vegetables and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and citrusy hops as well as lighter notes of roasted malt. Not much of a stout, but a decent brown ale. fonefan (49528) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JAN 30, 2011

Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Unclear dark brown color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, woody, tobacco, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, tobacco, woody, dark roasted, alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.
Cask at GBBF 2010, 5th Aug 2010. Flat murky brown. Tired taste with just some very average malt flavours. Looks like I got the bottom of the barrel, given the other rates for this from that day.

Cloudy dark brown beer. Light dry palate. Sweetish malt. Nice touch of chocolate.Good underpinning dark fruit - tangy plum and some generic fruits. Finishes fairly dry with a pinch of spice. Some grassy spice in the aftertaste. Nicely joined up.
CaskGBBF2010. Murku ambery brown colour, not much head. Aroma is alcohol, fruits, earth and some mild liquorice. Flavour is fruits, liquorice, alcohol and some quite plummy notes. yespr (45709) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - AUG 5, 2010
From cask. Pours dark brown to black with a fully gone head. Aroma is dark malty and roasted. Sweet malty, dark breadish and hardroasted malt flavoured. Bitter and dry into the finish. Rather dry and mild acidic. dkoonce (911) - People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2009
I think this beer is clear, but it’s too dark to tell. Strong roast malt aroma. Heavy body with a sour finish that spoils an otherwise nice stout.
