Cask (handpump) at Egham Beer Festival on 21 April 2011. I’d seen beers from this brewery before but as a hobby "charity" brewers. So it was pleasing to see that they had taken the leap and moved on to commercial production and this was my first opportunity to try one of the beers. It appears that Binghams makes a Coffee Stout and a Vanilla Stout regularly and I assume this is a blend of the two. A rather successful blend too. Black, with a slightly oily consistency. Big vanilla presence. However, this is amply tempered by the dark, burnt roasty coffee element. So, although I’m not usually a big fan of vanilla in a beer, this ends up well balanced and tasty - vanilla is strong but doesn’t overwhelm. Mouthfeel remains firm. A very promising first experience.
