Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival on the 7th October 2016. Cask, gravity dispense. Dull black in colour with a thin dark tan head. Malty aroma with chocolate malt and fudge in evidence - struggling to note the vanilla though. Thin but creamy texture to the mouthfeel and poor lacing throughout. Dark malt complex gives a rich depth of flavours with treacle fudge, dark chocolate and mocha coffee present in the mouth. Dry hop resins give a bitter bite to the balanced aftertaste. Finish is sweet and smooth with chewy treacle, coffee crème and a hint of liquorice. This stout is full of depth and flavour and tastes stronger than the 5% ABV implies. Highly recommended. harrisoni (19534) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2016
Cask gravity at Firkin Alehouse Folkestone. Black beer thin tan head. Vanilla chocolate aroma. Dry stout. Good. Good balance. Lovely chocolate sweet vanilla ok but not the best beer in Britain. BeardedAvenger (1264) - Addlestone, Surrey, ENGLAND - OCT 19, 2016
Bottle at home. Bought at Inn At Home, Guildford. Sweet coffee/malt aroma, with a hint of vanilla. Cola coloured. Very sparse beige head. Sweet at first, then bitter, especially in finish. Relatively light bodied for a stout. Carbonation is front and centre in terms of mouthfeel - the jury is out on this element. There is some vanilla there but as per the aroma am getting sour coffee and berries. Prefer it to their coffee stout. But it’s confusing me - sweet and sharp/bitter. UPDATED: OCT 9, 2016 Pours a deep dark brown with a foamy light tan head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma with hints of vanilla. Smooth roasted chocolaty and sweet flavour, a little vanilla and a very light bitterness in the finish. jmgreenuk (10324) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - SEP 30, 2016
Cask at the Hope and Champion, Beaconsfield. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasty malt. The flavour is moderate sweet with a dry roasty coffee sweet malt palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

August 2016 - Cask handpull at GBBF 2016 as ’Binghams Vanilla Stout’, 5%. Champion Beer of Britain this year. Dark brown, opaque, foamy off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, light coffee notes, some resin. Body is light with tingly carbonation. Taste is chocolate, molasses, some vanilla, light varnish and sweet all the way through. For me, this needed something more to balance the sweetness, but it’s fine. (3.2) SamVimes21 (573) - - SEP 24, 2016
Cask @ Salopian, Shrewsbury, black with a tan head with a slightly sweet taste with a hint of vanilla, and a aftertaste that makes you think of milk chocolate , a nice stout overall. minutemat (6210) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - SEP 4, 2016
Cask @ The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury. Pours dark, small tan head. Aroma is lightly sweet, chocolate, faint roast. Taste is smooth, very light milk chocolate, very soft dark malts. No real discernible vanilla in the taste, although there is a subtle sweetness. Decent pintworthy stout, but nothing outstanding. MrBishop (79) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 31, 2016
Cask at Castle Tap Reading. Glad to find this so soon after it won champion beer of Britain. Dark amber appearance. Taste of vanilla obviously but not at all sweet sound67 (784) - Offenbach, GERMANY - AUG 25, 2016
[GBBF 2016, Olympia] - Bingham ’s Vanilla Stout, 5%. Dunkelbraun, fast schwarz. Championship Beer of Britain 2016.
