When traveling in Indonesia, having some good beer can be a challenge. Obviously, without a century old tradition and being infused with Dutch brewing (no offense) the result cannot be top-class. That being said, Bintang is the most popular and arguably the best (?) alternative available. jackl (8555) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 28, 2017
Bottle from Drinks of the World, Geneva. Golden pour with a tiny head. Nose is ridiculously skunky and pretty much dominates my sensory experience of the beer. Stale, light-struck sugared cereal and a bit of sulphur. What I can taste is fairly sweet and flabby cereal. Very strong carb. Just a nasty, cheap, pale lager. Overall, this is exactly as you’d expect it to be. YantarCoast (1621) - Moscow, RUSSIA - AUG 11, 2017
620ml bottle. Pours clear gold with a small white head that disappears in a couple of seconds. Aroma is white bread, cereal. Taste is light sweet, straw, water, metal, light bitterness. Thin and watery body. Pretty bad. AshtonMcCobb (7027) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 11, 2017
Bottle from Thai supermarket in Prenton.
Appearance - golden with a decent head.
Nose - caramel and light biscuits.
Taste - more caramel biscuits. Some citrus.
Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish.
Overall - so so. hawthorne00 (4191) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 2, 2017
Bottle. Gold with a white head that fades a bit. Aroma of hay, cardboard, weeds. Thin, fizzy. Sugary but not that sweet, just rather empty where you expect malt. Clean enough I guess with weedy bitterness that’s at least distinct.

Golden coloured lager with a frothy white head.
Aroma: sweet and some straw.
Taste: sweet malt with some straw.
Tastes more like alcohol free beer in my opinion. The_Osprey (9670) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 12, 2017
May 2017 - Bottle share at Cotts. As ’Bintang Bir Pilsener’ Big thanks to Sarky for bringing this prize Indonesian beer. Won as part of the Sarky character competition. Brewed in Central Java. Pale golden yellow, clear and still with a foamy off-white head that leaves light lacing. Aroma is corny, light sugary malt. Body is light, tingly carbonation, frothy. Taste is a little corny, some of the standard biscuity-sugary malt vibes but the overwhelming impression is that this tastes the way an indoor 5-a-side football pitch carpet smells. Sort of like those felt balls. It’s plain and basic and exactly what you’d expect from a country tick. (4-4-4-3-11-2.6) schavuitje (308) - APELDOORN, NETHERLANDS - JUL 9, 2017
