We blend young and old beers to make this mildy tart sour ale. Light bodied with a lactic/sour nose and a bit of sweet and sour in the finish. Very refreshing!

Found this beer sold under the Monk’s Cate Sour Flemish Ale name. Reddish color with almost no head. Very sour fruity aroma reminding me of a Spanish fermented aged apple cider. The flavor is very sharp and acidy which will turn off those who don’t expect it. Appreciating a balsamic vinegar flavor in a beer requires no pre-conceived idea of what beer "should" taste like. Not a beer for everyone nor one I would drink every day, but very interesting.

Copenhagen 12/8-2017. 33cl bottle from Den Gamle Købmand. As Monk’s Café Flemish Sour Ale. Drawing of an Beer Barrel with silhouette of a Beer Mug upon it on the label. Very obscure. Pours clear deep maroon with a red tinge and with big off-white head. Settles as several centimeters thick layer of foam. Massive lacing. Aroma is quite sour bordering on the acidic. Vinegar and citrus. Subdued sweetness. Medium carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor is lightly sweet followed by stronger sourness. Aftertaste is sour and finish dry. Nice and sour without being extreme.

Alluring tart sour aroma in a deep red brown pour. Laid back sour taste is nicely balanced with a hint of sweet dried fruit in the body. A nice example of the style but exceeded by others.

Reddish-brown with a thick tan head. Smells like cherries. Tastes like rice vinegar and cherry pop. Tangy, pleasant combination of sweet and sour, maybe a little sweeter than I’d like. Has a bit of a oaky/earthy/dry finish.

On tap at ’t Brugs beertje Brugge. Dark ruby colour lasting beige head. cherry black aroma. Delicious. I do like a black cherry flavour. Wow that is perfect mix of sweet and sour. Just cherry juice superb.

Mörkt rödbrun, mycket vacker, med ett stort, tätt och gräddigt skum. Doft av sura körsbär, vinösa toner. Smaken är fyllig, rund, körsbärssyra, vinös, synnerligen smakrik och smaskig. Drucken på tapp på De Klomp. Helt underbar!

Can shared. Thanks Ryan! Pours a deep reddish purple with a small cream-colored head. Tons of boyensenberry jam, blackberry and Concord grape and raspberry in the nose. Really just a ton of berry notes. Good carbonation with lots of jammy character on the palate. Refreshing, but gets a little sweet as it warms. Nice lingering tartness thoughout. Solid.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Redwood City, California. Lovely winey sour grape aroma, hints of sweetness, plum, some light balsamic vinegar notes. An extremely lively reddish brown beer with a big light tan head that took quite some time to dissipate. Tastes of spiced plums, tart grapes and apples, with a lingering lactic tartness.

i tried it as Monk’s Cafe... the aroma is fruity and winy with hints of sour berries, plum, yeast, sour apple and some spices... the taste is sour and sweet with notes of red wine, sour plum, berries, candy and sour citrus... sour and sweet aftertaste...
