Also called Monks Caf Flemish Sour Red Ale

We blend young and old beers to make this mildy tart sour ale. Light bodied with a lactic/sour nose and a bit of sweet and sour in the finish. Very refreshing!

Serving: from bottle (labeled Monks Caf Flemish Sour Red Ale)--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles. Aroma: moderate grape aroma. Appearance: small, rocky, light brown initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Bubbly, dark red body. Taste: sour grape, yeasty, initial flavor. Somewhat leathery, acetic finish. Long duration. Palate: light body, very dry texture with fizzy carbonation and metallic feel. Overall: I liked the aroma and initial flavor, but the finish took some getting used to. Very complex.

On tap at Pazzos. Lots of cherry flavor with some tartness to offset the sweet taste.

Monks cafe Flemish sour red CAN. Pours a dark ruby with good cola coloured head.. Raspberry & woody aroma quite sweet.. Starts with that sweet fruit berry, then goes tart, solid wood, good bite yet still sweet.. Sourced REAL a gastropub

Opaque red color. Pour has a 1" head but fizzles down quickly. Smells like cherries and tastes like a sour cherry too. Malty and delicious!!! Light after taste.

Clear ruby red with a tan head. Aroma of red fruit, wine, cherries and tartness. Taste is tart, woody, tannic, with high carbonation. Good, but not as good as it could be. The tannins kinda overwhelm the taste, leaving an almost unpleasant feeling.

Hazy dark brown with a foamy cream colored head. Sour, wild yeast aroma. Tart, sharp, fruity bite, tart...tart. Not bad, but I dont love it.

Monks Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. A simple, but good sour. Aroma and taste is not as intense as others within the category. Nevertheless pleasant.
