Very good. Especially @ $3..00 a glass. Sour with a sweet finish. Dark cherry color. Dark and ripe fruits taste. Good body and mouthfeel.
On tap at ’t Brugs beertje Brugge. Dark ruby colour lasting beige head. cherry black aroma. Delicious. I do like a black cherry flavour. Wow that is perfect mix of sweet and sour. Just cherry juice superb. tia (2160) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - JUN 16, 2017
Bottle at Irish Pub. Brown with big head and decent head. Smells like vinegar and cherry tootsie pop. Maltier than it smells. Finishes dry. SvanteL (507) - SWEDEN - JUN 16, 2017
Helt underbar! willisread (3306) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 12, 2017
Can shared. Thanks Ryan! Pours a deep reddish purple with a small cream-colored head. Tons of boyensenberry jam, blackberry and Concord grape and raspberry in the nose. Really just a ton of berry notes. Good carbonation with lots of jammy character on the palate. Refreshing, but gets a little sweet as it warms. Nice lingering tartness thoughout. Solid. crazy_cat_lady (542) - - MAY 26, 2017
Bottle from Whole Foods in Redwood City, California. Lovely winey sour grape aroma, hints of sweetness, plum, some light balsamic vinegar notes. An extremely lively reddish brown beer with a big light tan head that took quite some time to dissipate. Tastes of spiced plums, tart grapes and apples, with a lingering lactic tartness.

i tried it as Monk’s Cafe... the aroma is fruity and winy with hints of sour berries, plum, yeast, sour apple and some spices... the taste is sour and sweet with notes of red wine, sour plum, berries, candy and sour citrus... sour and sweet aftertaste... A delicious, complex Flemish sour. It pours dark brown with average foam. The aroma is tart, rich, and malty. Dark fruit notes and a tangy punch blend together really well in the aroma. The flavor is great, the sourness hits on the front of the tongue, and the finish is great combination of warm, sweet malt and pungent tartness. Apple, red wine, and brown sugar are woven throughout the end of the sip. Just really tasty. phfyysik (1253) - Tartu, ESTONIA - MAR 13, 2017

Aroma is fruits, cherry, strawberries, raspberry, berry sugar, vanilla, cream, plums, some currant, different wild berries, light sourness. Taste is sour, dry, berries, cherry, red currant, cream, some sugar, strawberry, sweet grapes, plums, juice, light bitterness, very light acid. Super beer! November 25th, 2014 - As it is known by its American name, the Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Ale is a relatively ubiquitous beer nowadays in beer stores, upping the Belgian presence, and claiming shrinking shelf space for its home country back in Europe. A good thing, too, since the monotony of San Diego IPAs is best dispelled with a little Belgian magic. And so it seemed like a spell when I poured out the Monk’s Cafe into a glass, producing a deep, deep brown colored brew, and on top, a wonderfully symmetrical top of espresso colored foam. The construction quality on the head made it hard to get a good sniff of the brew, but it is definitely tangy in nature, with a touch of orange brightness. The palate is light, giving me a generous sensation of the curious blend therein. I find sweet, tangy and woody, all dancing in a somewhat chaotic balance, with a tepid cherry note appearing near the aftertaste. "Kind of woody, kind of weird" I write in my tasting notes. This bottle might have been a bit off, but not so much that I won’t try this again, and maybe with a little aging to take the last layer of awkward rawness away. Absolutely delicious sour ale. Strong sour flavor. Dark color and light foamy head. Very balanced and tasty.
