on tap at Liberty Taphouse; black with a tan head; great coffee aroma; nice smooth, roasted malt flavor with lots of coffee notes and hints of serrano peppers - no real heat; well balanced; medium bodied; medium bitterness; a very enjoyable beer MKromhoutNC (35) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 20, 2018
Good base stout taste with a little something extra. A little chewy, creamy in texture. Nice deep color.

Can (Jan 3, 2017 canning).
Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is black (non-opaque, flashlight tested).
Aroma is moderately malty (burnt grain/coffee, unsweetened chocolate), with a note of raw/vegetal chile pepper.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Not a fan of this...simple and slightly unpleasant aroma that’s overly roasted and vegetal. Not getting any of the cinnamon, but that probably wouldn’t help much. Slightly sour and watery in the mouth, so it’s not fun to drink either. weihenweizen (4356) - Charleston, West Virginia, USA - APR 4, 2017
Refrigerated 16 oz. aluminum can poured into a cup. Black with big beige head. Aroma is hot peppers, medium body, well carbonated, and small-bubble lacing. Taste is hot peppers, chocolate, coffee, and spices (cinnamon mostly). geologyguy (1696) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - MAR 31, 2017
Very aromatic... Strong coffee...Taste is same...But no sweetness or spiciness like I expected...Pretty much a bold coffee Stout...No cinnamon that I can taste...I guess a hint of Jalapeno on the finish...But disappointing...Wish there was more spice and flavor

16 oz can at the Suwanee Music Camp.
Opaque black-brown body with a decent light brown head.
Coffee, light smoke, dark bread and faint alcohol esters in the nose.
The flavor has more coffee and a good bit of dark, bitter chocolate. Subtle chili.
Full body with medium, light carbonation. BeerandBlues2 (14512) - Escondido, California, USA - FEB 23, 2017
Draught at the brewery. Pours black with a medium, frothy beige head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is moderate chocolate and coffee malt with peppers and cinnamon. Flavor is moderate chocolate and coffee malt with spicy peppers, cinnamon and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Suttree (6608) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 8, 2017
Black, no head. Smell like green chilies and coffee and then some dark chocolate. Taste pretty much follows suit - green chilies up front, coffee and chocolate and your more traditional stout flavors are more in the finish. Liked it. travita (5008) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 4, 2017
Tap. The look is dark, blackish the in color, light tan head. The smell is spiced, cocoa, touch of pepper, and pleasant. The taste is similar, pepper heat, Mexican chocolate, pretty decent. Dogbrick (14443) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Sample at Foggy Mountain Brew Pub. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and chili pepper. Light to medium body with flavors of roast malt, bakers chocolate and mild pepper. The finish is chocolatey and spicy with a short peppery aftertaste. Decent overall.
