COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chestnut beer. Available January-March and September-November.

EBC: 19

Pours an opaque dark amber, chestnut brown color with a one finger light beige head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Minimal spots of lace left behind. Earthy, spicy aroma with soily/dirty hops, pepper, sweet malt and dark fruit. As it warms, the malts come forward with hints of hazelnut, caramel, toffee, coffee bean and toast. Strange combination of yeast, spice and hops in the nose. Medium bodied with light carbonation and a slightly syrupy, medicinal fell. Zesty spice and grassy, piny hops give off some dry bitterness that lingers over the spices and malt backbone into a dry finish. Hints of pepper and cinnamon followed by caramel malt, nut and toffee. Slight astringent finish which is too dry for my preference.

Hazy copper colour. Fruity malty aroma. Soft texture. As the beer warms slightly the nuttiness becomes detectable. Light hoppy finish.
