COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chestnut beer. Available January-March and September-November.

EBC: 19

Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, light to moderate hoppy, citrus - grapefruit, moderate yeasty, sharp, rubber - gummy, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, light acidic and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (030808)

From tap at Bir and Fud, comes as castagnale. Pours hazy orange with a bubbly white head. Light fruity hops aroma. Flavour is smooth spiced and mellow. Light acidity. Ends spiced and acidic.

Bottled. An unclear dark amber beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is oddly metallic combined with notes of chestnuts, and lighter notes of acidic lemon and dusty hops. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of caramel, but stronger notes of acidic lemon and oranges, as well as quite strong notes of chestnuts. I ’m not that fond of chestnut beers.

Draft at 2 Amy’s. Beautiful clear ruby maroon color, fluffy white head. Aroma of toasted nuts, port wine. Taste is fruity, nutty and sweet. One of the lease offensive chestnut beers I’ve had.
Earlier Rating: 1/1/2011 Total Score: 3.1
Draft at Churchkey. Hazy amber color, scant head. Aroma of caramel, subtle nut. Pretty plain caramel taste, very sweet. Sono d’accordo con Lorenzo, it needs moore complexity.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Hazy amber, minimal head. Yeasty lemony nose. Fruity and rather thin, acidic and lemony with metal edges and not much else. Accidental lambic?

Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 18, 2007
(Bottle 75 cl) Very unclear amber golden with a tall, dense off-white head. Extremely lively - it keeps on coming even after most of the bottle has been emptied! Sourish, fruity aroma. Medium body, sweetish malty with fruit and caramel. Very unclean with this underlying tartness throughout. 150207

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübs bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig, nussig, Karamell, Gewürze, genauso ist auch der Geschmack.
