Chestnut beer. Available January-March and September-November.

EBC: 19

Big 750ml bottle, lotto 15 203/12, shared at The BrewDog Bar in Manchester. Patchy surface over a hazy, dark amber coloured body. Good amount of lacework. Smell of sappy fruits with hints of candy sweetness. Rather succulent taste of fruits, lightly spiced, and mingled with nutty malts. Not overly sweet to the finish. Smooth and clean in the mouth. Quite well bodied considering the relatively low alcohol strength (25.01.2013).

750 ml bottle, as Birra del Borgo CastagnAle, probably from Matkroken Stokka. BBE 12/2014. ABV is 4.2%. Beautiful reddish colour, unfortunately spoiled by loads of floaties that dont dissolve in the beer. Moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, chestnuts and over-ripe fruits, hints of solvent. Slightly sweet flavour, with the same elements as in the aroma. Might be somewhat better fresh, but probably not my cup of tea under any circumstance.

Bottle from Open Baladin. Chestnut Amber brown. A fruity, nutty aroma with slight biscuit. Really interesting taste, acidic, tart, nutty with some grainy biscuitiness. Easy to drink and enjoyable brown ale, preferred by everyone over Palafrina by Troll...

From a really sexy bottle pours out chestnut color topped with small head. Nose is really nutty sweetness and a nice malt bill. Taste is nutty aswell with a good mellow malt bill. Glad I got to try this one.

0,75 bottle purchased in Rome and consumed in Serbia. Pours honey color, cloudy with a minimal gassy off white head. Nose: under fermentation must (yeast), sour notes, hidden chestnuts. Mouth: sour feeling but lack of character. Forgettable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Mad For Beer (Rome). Corpo leggero, carbonazione bassa. Autunnale, senza pretese, ma davvero ben fatta.

Bottle at home (batch LS170/11, best before 11/2013, shared). Pours hazy dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma of moldy wood, wet forest, bit of malty caramel. Taste is bitter sweet, slight malty caramel sweetness, hint of solvent like esters in the end, no trace anymore of (chest)nuts if there were any to begin with. Okay, but would like to taste this fresh.

Dunkel brun farve med lys beige skum. Lukt av gress og karamell. Smak av karamell, brun malt og noe krydder. Fruktig og litt bitter ettersmak. Vaaland.
