Saison with einkorn.

Clear golden orange layered color/ tan sheen. Herbal, celery, citrus rind, dry hay, earthy hop aromas. Light smooth mouthfeel. Lightly sweet pale malt, toast, herbal earthy hop flavors with a very mild plastic taste--good

Whole Foods, Bowery 37.5cl ($5): Pours an ever so slightly golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity, herbal, and even a bit metallic. Taste is herbal tea like, but a lot sweeter, with a hefty malt backbone. Some lingering pretentious candy taste. Reminds me a bit of Turkish delight. Not bad.

Orange nose. Cloudy amber, thin head. Whole orange and lemon flavor. Not really distinctive and it’s pricey. It tastes good though.

Tap at Brasserie V. Glowing orange-tan. Steady off-white head. Odd, astringent herbal aroma. Interesting watery malt body, not unlike a Bierre de Garde. Finishes abruptly watery. Spiced candy orange, apple, cinnamon tones. Quite unique. Golden creamy malt tones, quite doughy. Fairly straightforward, not as odd as the aroma would suggest. Enjoyable enough, just a little bland and unrefined, medicinal, herbal. Rip-off price brings it down a few points.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Yellow with a white head. The aroma is very fruity with a lot of oranges, peaches, flowers and biscuit malt. The flavor is similar with some sweet peach and apricot notes, as well as some flowers and biscuit malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice beer.

Fra flaskepå Tap1 mai-123: det første speltøl jeg har smakt, og det gjester til tranfigelse. Interessant, minner om hveteøl.

In short: A boring fruity brew with a commercial breakfast fruit juice character
How: From the bottle at Montreal Mondial de la Bière 2009
The look: Cloudy yellow-blonde body topped by a very small white head
In long: Yeasty nose. The focus here is on fruit flavours. I noted apples, pineapples, bananas, mangos, apricots and ground-cherries. Very juicy. A little bubble gum. A little floral/grassy hops presence but not much. The problem with the beer is I thought it tasted too much like a commercial pasteurized mix-fruits bottle juice like I buy at the grocery store. I think the few ratings are a bit generous for this extra-boring beer. I think people are being polite with their ratings cause they don’t know if the brewer has any ties to the mafia
