Imperial Pilser" realizzata con Sam Calagione del birrificio Dogfish Head (USA). Pils, Carapils, Simcoe, Warior, Saaz <nt>

Bottle, shared april 13th 2013. Hazy yellow, orange tint with a big white head. Very hoppy aroma, flowers, grapefruit and peach. Crisp malt, all in a very good balance. Taste doesnt disappoint, herbal and tropical, with a dry grain taste. Finish of tropical fruits, I find this a very interesting imperial pils.

Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a moderate, but quickly disappearing white head. Aroma is a pungent tartness, difficult to describe. Hints of sour fruits. Taste mildly sour with a light sweetness. Light to medium in body with heavy carbonation. Sour lingers into finish. Interesting beer, but not my style.

Tap. Pours clear pale amber, minimal head, little lacing. Aroma is honey, grass, slight bathroom. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, somewhat floral, light bitterness. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Easy to drink, unremarkable.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Dupont tap ($8): Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is of a combination of hops: small amount of citrus, some pine, and resin. Taste is similar to an IPA and would almost be hard-pressed to identify this as a lager at the first go. Nice finish with a lingering aftertaste. I would be interested to try the DFH version again, because I had only sampled it when I had it.

On draft at Pizzeria Paradiso Washington DC. Pours a cloudy gold with a thin off white head. Feint citrus nose. Flavors of white toast with some grapefruit and pine. A great breakfast beer?

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Strong sweetish aroma of American hops and carapilsener malts, notes of citrus fruit / orange marmalade. Soft mouthfeel. Sweet flavour with distinct and fruity American hops throughout. A tasty and enjoyable beer, the alcohol is not well hidden though. Medium bitter finish. Tastes more or less like an American IPA, not much "pilsener" about this one.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts well and leaves reasonable lacing. Herbal, spice and citrus hops dominate the aroma, with some faint caramel malt in the background. Powerful grapefruit and herbal hops up front lead into a fairly light body of caramel and white bread malt. Spicy hops come through in the finish, and linger into the aftertaste. This is quite a good beer, but like most imperial pilseners it really needs a bit more body to carry its hops flavours.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
