UPDATED: JAN 1, 2011 Bottled, 75cl. Almost clear, dark reddish-brown beer with a tan head. Some chocolate aroma, and roasted malt and coffee. The flavor is nice, but a bit weak, and there’s some papery notes as well. Full-bodied, with a dry finish with coffee. Rating: 6-4-6-4-14-3.4. 061229Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 15, 2007
Bottle, courtesy of KimJohansen. A reddish, dark brown beer with a small, dark beige head. Chocolate, coffee and roasted malts on the nose, a bit weak, but definitely not bad. Dry, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Chocolate and roasted malts in the flavor, some licorice-like notes. A nice one, but I feel the flavors are jumping everywhere. Strange. Wouldn’t mind finishing a bottle on my own though. 100814
Bottle shared with the crew,in late November, thanks R. Neat aroma - smoke, malt, very nice. Taste - holy crap, so much tobacco! I feel dirty just having tasted this! Like a beer from an ashtray. medium body. So earthy. Almost too much tobacco, but what an original and enjoyable creation. thebeertourist (5188) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 7, 2007
Bottle. Pours black with a huge tan head. Roasted malts aroma with a touch of berries. Espresso tastes with berries, ending quite dry. Lightish, almost watery body. Interesting. Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - JAN 4, 2007
It’s almost black with a red hue and a nice head. The aroma is slightly sour with light notes of coffee. The mouth feel is rather oily. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, acidity and nice bitter coffee and licorice in the finish. pubbe (493) - Højbjerg, DENMARK - JAN 2, 2007
Bottle. Dark brown with light brown mostly lasting head. Coffee and spices in the aroma. Nice balanced flavor with some burnt malt and more spices. Nothing seems overdone in this brew. Nice harmonic porter.
