3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle, lotto 367, from Vinmonopolet Valkendorf, Bergen. Shared at a rating session with Finn. Unclear golden coloured body. Diminishing white head. Dotted spots to the glassware. Dry fruity smell with a touch of bacon beneath. The taste profile is rather complex with smoked malts, nuts, wood and some hints of tannin. Malt-fruity ending. Unusual and quite tasty (Tromsø, 20.09.2012).
330ml dark flask shaped bottle from Beers Of Europe - unfiltered, I think. The bottles from Birradamare are beautiful, and the twists they put to the beers are indicative of a brewery that wants to try. Not everything they do works, and when they fail they fail badly, but it's nice to see them trying. This doesn't quite fail, but it's a smoked pale lager, and it's just a little too odd to be fully enjoyable. A little quirky, yes, and some interesting flavours. But it doesn't quite meld for me. I'm not quite sure of the bottling process that Birradamare use. The beers taste unfiltered, but there's no residue in the bottle. I like it. You get that freshness, and that yeast character. And it seems stable. I wonder if the beers are filtered, and then gently reseeded, but without any sugar. Or maybe a bit of unfiltered beer is put into the filtered bottle, just to give it a bit of sparkle and character. Desverger (12941) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 7, 2016

330 ml bottle, as Birradamare ’na Biretta de Castagne, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.8%. BB date 07.2013. Pours fizzy with a low white head. Deep golden to amber colour with floaties. Unfresh aroma of chestnuts and smoke. The medium dry flavour has notes of smoked meat and nuts, hardly any noticeable hops. Might have been somewhat better as fresh, but I doubt that it would be worth the money under any circumstance. Lele (562) - Padova, ITALY - JUN 23, 2014
Birra fatta con castagne (particolarità italiana), che si sentono però veramente poco. Si percepisce un affumicato e del maltato. Niente male, ma spero che esistano esempi di birre alle castagne decisamente migliori

Bottle at home. Has a golden amber colour with a off-white creamy medium head. Sweet and smokey aroma with sweet malt, some fruit and rye bread. The flavour falls a bit through and is more faint than expected. Still some smoke and sweet malt but that’s it. The mouth feel is though smooth and round, and has a very light bitterness. The aroma was nice but the flavour did disappoint. This must be one of the most easy-drinking smoked beers. Fenrir (19) - Stavanger, NORWAY - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle from vinmonopolet Kvadrat, also a gusher, sweet and smokey aroma. Clowdy and wierd. Not to my liking.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Kvadrat. Gusher. Pours clear golden/amber with a small white head. Aroma of light smoked meat, caramel. Taste is sweet caramel, nearly no trace of smoke. Thin body and rather too sweet for my likings.

Flaske 0,33l spandert av Rune og delt under rateseanse hos ham 20 Sep 12. LOT 367. Gylden. Litt uklar. Middels høyt tett skum. God krydderaroma med innslag av tre. Minner om eik men er nok kastanje. Søt treaktig smak. Sevje. Uvanlig øl men ikke dumt. Pluss for flaskedesignet. ClubGonzo (5685) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 27, 2012
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange body with a medium bubbly white head. Nose is caramel, grains, grass, hints of chestnut and slight metallic. Taste is caramel, leather, nuts, hints of smoke, peat and chestnut. Unusual, and quite nice. Thin body with a sparkling carbonation, a combo that doesn’t suit this kind of smoked beer very much and draws back the overall impression significantly. Tasty enough, but too thin for me.
