Nice kind of 330ml bottle, lotto 416, picked up at Vinmonopolet Valkendorf in Bergen, carried home and shared with Finn. Tan-coloured head that laces well down the glass. Jet black body colour. Smell of earthy malts with hints of chocolate. Creamy chocolate to the fore offset by the taste of roasted coffee beans. Dry ending containing hints of almond. Mid-sweet. Pleasant schwarzbier (Tromsø, 20.09.2012).

Black pour, finger of tan head. Nose is mild coffee. Bittersweet. Middle is blackened malt, cocco, and hint of espresso. Finish is bittersweet and medium bodied. Delicious beer.

12 oz. bottle. After 1089 ratings, my first Italian Schwarzbier. Pours almost black with a fizzy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, licorice. Taste follows nose, with some plum, raisin, nuts and smoke notes. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Good stuff.

Aroma a malta tostada. Buena cerveza.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. BB date was 09.2013, appears to have cellared well. ABV is 5.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Decent aroma of chocolate / cocoa and coffee. The flavour is neither too sweet nor too dry. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, mild coffee and moderate but noticeable hops. Well balanced and enjoyable.

Birra italiana particolare e gustosa.

Alengrin (5639) - BELGIUM - JUL 30, 2014
Schwarzbier from a young micro brewery in Rome, carrying a light beige, creamy, stable head and very dark bronze colour, almost black, as typical for this style. Cold coffee aroma with hints of caramel, tobacco, dried figues and liquorice. Taste a dry chocolatey and caramelly maltiness, some dried fruit, light spicy tones, smoky touch, finishing in a long, dry toasted bitterness. More than average example of its style.

330 ml bottle. Very dark brown, almost black looking, with a tiny, non persistent beige head. Quite intense nose, lots of roasted malts, light chocolate and coffee, definitely some licorice, perhaps some vanilla and meaty qualities as well. Pleasent hoppy, herbal and bitter kick upfront, sweet-ish malty backbon as following, roasted, slightly spicy. Not as watery as expected, in fact it’s quite silky and almost wine-like smooth. Lingering chocolate, earth/wood and licorice in the aftertaste. Average carbonation, medium body, slightly oily texture. Solid schwarz!

Come dice la bottiglia. BBONA!
