Gran bere, gran birra. Bov (12888) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 19, 2010
from Mondial de la Bière 2010, Strasbourg - hazy golden-amber colour with a persistent pale beige foam; a charming hoppy aroma with notes of apricot, cream and undefined spices; medium-bodied and gently sticky, a fair bitterness and a long hoppy finish of red fruits and cream - subtle and very well-made Hermod (8063) - Vantaa, FINLAND - AUG 29, 2010

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Pikkulintu) Poured amber and hazy. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma contained malts, pine and muistiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pours with a blooming two fingers of slightly off-white head that holds really well and nice sticky chunks of lacing. Really hazy brown copper hue with orange highlights.
Aroma is a bit subdued with some citrusy hoppiness that give a hint of pine; lightly sweet maltiness; pretty basic and nothing off. Taste definitely on the hoppier side, and the citrus is a bit sticky. Floral hints sneak in as well; dryish and the malt sweetness doesn’t really rear with is nice. Medium MF, and a bit heavier than I would like for the style but the prickly carbonation scrapes the palate to clean between sips. (5.2% for the record). Just OK drinkability as the heaviness of the body wears on me after a bit. Tasty enough, and not a bad stab at the style. Just nothing to write home about. Solid brew

Draught at Bir & Fud, Roma. Hazy golden with creamy beige head. Nose and flavour of juicy passionfruit, grapefruit, lychee and caramel. Very smooth mouthfeel. Finishes with a big hoppy kick. Very nice. berlinoise2go (689) - NORWAY - APR 9, 2010
Bottle, 33cl, from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. 5.4% ABV. BB 15.11.2010. Two-inch offwhite head, slowly diminishing. Reddish amber colour, fairly clear, becoming hazier towards the end of the bottle. Fabulous nose; hoppy and sweet malty. Medium-bodied palate initially with a prominent near-IPA hop bitterness, but it finishes a bit harsh and thin, leaving a somewhat unbalanced impression. Another bottle of surprise from Italy. It’s slightly pretentious name makes me put on my "stern judge glasses" as I commence to pour out a cloudy amber with a thin, white head as top. Smell is not strong, but indicates a floral, hoppy kinda thing coming up. Right indeed, the fruity American hops come blended rather elegantly with some deeper, malty notes. Strong, grassy hop; not quite IPA strength but almost. Very drinkable. Prego Italia for this one, which is an original and well-made brew, despite the fact that all those wonderful notes in there just makes me long for its big brother who has a bit more of everything there is in it. Let’s hope such a version comes around my way.
