(Ale For Obsessed)
This top fermented beer is a free interpretation of a Pale Ale. It is deep copper in color, generously hopped (it contains more than ten different types of hops including the American Chinook, Cascade and Simcoe delivering its citrusy and exotic aromas) with a lightly toasted caramel flavor that perfectly balances its bitter finish.
A beer I have always craved. To all those obsessed by Ales like me.

A.F.O. is my second creation. It was launched on the market together with VIA EMILIA at the end of March 2007. The story behind this beer dates back to January 2006 when, for the first time, I came across the new and irresistible character of American hops. Despite the initial excitement, I soon realized that my dream pale ale aimed to express something different. Thus, I challenged myself to create a complex bouquet that would end up being unusual and enticing. The investigation in the field of hop aromas (which may never end) lead me to England and Germany. I also experimented with hop varieties from New Zealand. Despite this, A.F.O.’s unmistakable character will never change.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. Best before 2010-11-05. A bit hazy goldish orange colour with a with a medium big creamy head. Small dose of carbonation and some residue. Aroma is both hoppy and sweet at the same time. Some tropical fruits, pepper. The flavour is hoppy, but a bit thin and watery. Notes of hops, tropical fruits and pine. Some wood and spices in the flavour. Medium long, bitter aftertaste.

tarjei (1954) - Bryne, NORWAY - FEB 14, 2010
33 cl bottle at home. Clear amber color, nice off-white/beige head. Aroma is malty with some fruit and hops. Flavor is moderate sweet malty, fruit, pine and much bitterness. Fine carbonation. Not as balanced as expected, but a fine American Åale Ale.

13.02.2010, 0,33l Bottle. 5,4% alc./vol. From Vinmonopolet. Dark golden colour with white head. Aroma is dominated by hops. The aromatic hops has a pine aroma. Not much sweetness. Aftertaste is also bitter and the beer leaves a dry mouthfeel.

larsga (7539) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 6, 2010
Huge beige shiny coarseish head. Hazy red body with floaties and fast carbonation. Tropical fruit, wood, and lacquer aroma with peppery notes. Dry-bitter tropical fruit and resin taste with wooden spicy peppery notes. Mid-bodied. Faintly astringent mouthfeel. Dry spicy wooden resiny aftertaste with roasty resiny notes. Very nice, even if strongly hopped with a lack of compensating sweetness. Easy to drink, too. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly.)

Kestral (506) - Årnes, NORWAY - FEB 5, 2010
330ml, funky wide bottomed bottle. Pours a clear, deep copper with a massive, rocky tan head with loads of sticky lacing. Nice! Aroma is very inviting. Floral, resinous and fruity hops, slightly perfumy, spicy, with faint sugary, caramel and perhaps a hint of bready malts, and a slight sour note. This is quite a bitter bruiser of a brew, more because percieved bitterness than massive hop amounts I suspect. Bitter from start to finish more or less, lacks a little more malts to back up the hop attack. Light to medium bodied, mellow carbonation. Should be great as a refreshing summer drink.

gunnar (9085) - Sandnes, NORWAY - FEB 2, 2010
Arty bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark amber/golden with a big frothy off-white head. Aroma of pine, apricot and malts. Taste reminds me of old times malt sweets, but it is mixed with some lovely hops and a perfect carbonation Taste ends drying up a bit, making me take another lovely sip of this nice elixir. Pours hazy golden with a tanned head. Inviting hoppy aroma with herbal tones. Heavy initial resin-like bitterness in the mouth, but the finish is surprisingly short. Dry texture. I miss the sweetness to balance the bitterness. [email protected] 20.1.2010.

Mellow, hoppy, fresh. Honeyish aroma. Elegant. Nicely shaped bottom heavy bottle.

yngwie (17049) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 27, 2010
Bottle, 33cl, 5.2%. It’s a slighlty cloudy dark orange-golden beer with a fingerthick beige head. leaving lacings. Piney, resiny nose with peaches and malts. The hops do most of the job. That goes for the flavor too, which has a lovely bitterness on a sweet, malty base. Peach, pine and resin, with some citrus peel too. Full-bodied, nicely carbonated, and with a lingering bitterness in the end. A really fine APA. 100127
